Cosina has announced that their new compact Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 will be released in Leica 39mm thread mount in August 2023. (The lens will also be available in M mount and M mount with a more modern styling)

I'm quite exited, as I have been reluctantly debating with myself if I should cave in and get the TTartisan 28mm f/5.6 for a while now.
I kept hesitating for fear that the the max 5.6 aperture would be too limiting to be useful, and not to mention TTartisan's reputation of varying QC.
Cosina has an interesting option of black paint on brass with nickel plated trims which will look great on my old ca. 1933 Leica IID and support my vanity (see below). I hope they will make a matching 28mm finder as well.
The lens is said to sell in Japan at around JPY 90,000 including 10% consumption tax. (around US$650)
Yes I have the LTM VC 28f2.8 C-Sk. beautiful tiny lens. Sharp edge to edge living on the M10-D

I'm waiting for my restored IIIC so I can use a Canon Serenar f3.5 Canon 28mm with Canon finder. Great compact street camera except lately young people with digitals keep asking: "What is that"? Last time used were shots of pig racing at a county fair.
I have the Canon 35 f2.8 Serenar. beautiful little jewel of a lens.

Hi, my M 246's developed an anomaly yesterday. They decided to show the message 'lens not connected' with some lenses (mainly legacy LTM's with cheap chinese adapters, but also with a couple of my voigtlander/cosina lenses). These lenses had previously worked fine, with no problems (other than operator poor eye sight). This did not happen with other lenses. I could still use the rangefinder, and the cameras would record images, but no evf function or LV, and the irritating message 'no lens connected'.
Looking at previous threads, I'm guessing that it may be a problem with the code sensor being exposed to light because of the cheap adapters; but why only now and not previously?. I've kept the lens detection in the menus on 'off'. I haven't yet tried to select a lens type manually (thinking that may turn off the code detector; unless a coded lens is attached), but will try that later today.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Regards, Arthur (apiarist1).
The type of adapter is important when using vintage or LTM lenses. There are three types of LTM to M adapters. The ones that are type 1 will not work with live view or the Visoflex EVF adapters you may see "snow". The type 2 and 3 adapters will work. For best reliability type 3 adapters that can be 6 bit coded are best, like brass Rayqual adapters. Voightlander makes type 2 adapters. Also note that the old or vintage leica adapters are type 1 adapters and may not work with modern digital rangefinder leica EVFs.

Leica produces the MP (silver chrome and black paint) and the M6 (black chrome only).
The current Leica film cameras are the MP, The reissue M6 (all brass, no zinc top plate) and the M-A.

<p>Go back to the fundamentals and suggest a mechanical camera and a nifty 50 f1.8 of any brand. If it's digital then a similar used ---D200 with a nifty 50 or comparable decent model from other brands.<br>
for editing software, The Gimp is an option<br>

Why Leica M series film cameras are having a comeback
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
New film stocks are being released at an alarming rate. Kodak is ramping up old formulations and Harman / Ilford are releasing new color films. Lots and lots of film stocks in BnW and color to choose from.
Now if you want to shoot stock photos or decor then by all means continue using your cell phone.
