I am really perplexed by some of the low ratings of your work. I am no expert, but your work definietly deserves much more credit than people seem to be giving it. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but I definitely haven't seen many such shots of NYC, especially with this angle and exposure. It's extraordinary. It actually reminds me of some of the flyover (computer-animated) shots of Paris in Moulin Rouge.
I was curious as to some of the grain I was seeing in the Times Square shots. It looked as if you had perhaps pushed the film a bit...It would be great if you could include more detailed technical information (exposure and development) for these shots if you have it on hand. As an amateur, I learn a lot through the technical data that other photographers post.

yum

think this needs to be rotated a bit....to get the bottoms of the decoration on the top of the columns to be parallel with the top of the image.
-
something about the angle of the building bothers me to no end. perhaps rotate the image a bit to get the lines more vertical? or maybe crop out a bit of the blue sky?
-
such simple light and such a sophisticated result!!!! the contrast between the somewhat soft surface of the water in the background and all of the very hard lines/shadows is perfect. LOVE it!
-
the door is perhaps a bit overexposed? the shadows/lines are almost indecipherable. if they were a bit more pronounced this image would be great!
-
just wish the sun could be a little bit less hot.... the pattern, especially of such a simple surface, is great...and the sun is definitely necessary.
-
really like the aesthetics, but the cropping is really distracting.
-
quite painting-like
-
hope that's not permanent!
-
the highlights in the eyes dont really seem part of the photography. added afterward?

the scan could definitely use some work....

seems like the sort of image that would appear on the cover of a Nabokov novel (due to his fascination with lepidoptery). the image definitely has a surreal/playful/almost creepy look to it.
-
this entire image seems so flat to me, including the background. its hard to get any sense of depth...
-
entire image seems a bit drowned out....but, love it otherwise!
-
that green in the background is out of this world! really great background for these birds.....
-
swimmer's arm seems so connected to the water....great shot..
-
woohoo! i could spend too much time to staring at this. it just works so well!
-
love all of the different planes caught here...great image
-
original coloring for such a shot...but quite obviously artificial light...which i am not sure if it bothers me or not.
-
definitely a unique view of a calla lily (i think thats what this is...) beautiful colors!
-
some parts of image in lower half seem a bit, just a bit, too dark....love this though.

i have no idea what i think of this photo, because i am too distracted by the weird ghosts in the center of the frame and on that wacko piece of wall art on the right. on the left edge of the wall art, my eyes keep on insisting i see some sort of standing figure with really hollow eyes...and that ghost in the center just doesnt seem quite random either....
was there a double exposure here to create those ghosts? or is the lighting reflecting off of the table and other objects collaborating with my imagination to drive me insane?
like everyone else, i love the still on the television, but it only adds to the eerieness of the unexplained light bits.
dominique, i'd love to know exactly what i am seeing...and how it was done. my interest is throughly piqued.
side note: i would love it if, before putting up a POW, someone would encourage the photographer to provide some more detailed technical information, or at least a small caption, to explain the image. as an amateur, i am thoroughly interested in knowing how these great images are created, but other than composition, i can learn nothing without some sort of explanation. it would be great to be able to enjoy these photographs AND learn from the great photographers that produce the POWs.
