Victor,

the 35 is an excellent choice, it's my favourite. I think it offers a
natural view with the M series.

Congrat's.

I used a Noct for about 6 months (indoor BW work). I have to admit it
made me proud to be an owner but did sure not improve my work. The
Noct is far from being crisp as the 35/50. If used wide open, well,
you know what DOF is, with the Noct, it's almost not present when used
wide open, if stepped down, well, take a 50/1.4 or 35/1.4...

Take an Ewa-Marine waterproof case. Pol filter. Print film I don't use
so no clue.

Keep camera after shooting in watertight box to prevent moisture over
night, take silicia gel (doesn't harm to put some in the Ewa-Marine
case as well).

I'd suggest UVA filters to protect lenses against small sand particles
as well.

I have asked myself the same question. As long as I am able to set the
corrent time/aperture I wonder what I use the M7 for. However I am
apparently not the only Leica customer so there might be others who
will likely use the new features. As long as Leica does not kill their
own heritage I am fine. And with 5 Leica M6 bodies I will be able to
inherit some to my kids....

Steve,

I find the 2/50 a bit more sharper and showing more contrast.
Especially when doing BW.

The 2.8 is a fine lens when you want a camera easily fitting in your
pocket though. I used it for travelling quite a while. Still my
personal preference is the 2/50.

I'm still with the battery my M6 TTL came with after more than a year
and approx. 2 rolls/month. I use the off switch if I am not using it
for longer time.

Just one more... Check that the viewfinder is brilliant. I was offered
a couple of shrink wrapped M4's where the viewfinder was blind. It may
be that the shrink wrap is responsible for that.

Something broke... Here I send again...

My first Leica was an M4-P and I loved and hated it. The hate resulted
in from being an SLR user before. After a while I shifted my habit
towards throwing away all the SLR behaviour. I used a hand held meter
and was slower but my pictures became (technically) better, more
thinking involved.

The M4-P also eased my way towards the M6. I'll never forget the
lesson it tought me.

I am not sure if I can find software to load my jpg files in 10 years
or read my CD's but I sure will find a slide projector.

I had dust once inside the finder. So I stopped by at Leica in Germany
and they fixed it at no cost.

Dunno about the US though...

Is there a best film? I doubt it since the representation of i.e.
colors are subject to personal preference. Some like intense colors,
others don't. Try a couple and make your choice.
