When I got my first M3, it had been in a camera bag in a closet for many years. It had fungus everywhere, including the lenses. I had it serviced by Steve Choi in Los Angeles. This was more than 10 years ago and the camera is a joy to use. Be very careful with the front element of the Summmicron. Is very soft and easy to scratch.

Be very very careful when you remove the bottom plate to remove the film. The vulcanite will be brittle and is easy to damage.

IMHO, the double stroke feels much nicer than the single stroke.

New? Only my minilux. I still have it. great lens. 3 of the others I have were made before I was born and my M6's are 1998 models. Got them used. My focomat also used.

Mhhh. I'm not sure Colin. I checked the manual for the Leica M and there is an issue with both lenses, there is no info on the A7 in the manual and neither it is in the novotel adaptor manual. I never though about the Fuji...

Thanks Phil. Do you have any experience with the camera so far? I played for a few minutes the other day and liked it, but I read some complaints about shuter lag and bad results with the 28mm. I would love to have selectable frames a la M6. Maybe I should wait for the next version, I don't know...

Thanks Colin. Because this two lenses collapse backwards when not in use and could damage the sensor.

Hello.
I am considering buying this camera but I would like to know if there is any restriction for using the 50mm Summicron and the Elmar f4.0 collapsible lenses.

Thanks for the help.

Lars. I had that lens for a while. It does not bring the 35mm frames on an M6 unless modified. Sherry Kruter did it for me. It's no big deal really.
I sold the lens and got a Summicron35 v4 instead.

I noticed that difference in size when I started printing with a 25x37mm carrier. Depending on the lens I got thicker black margins.

Hi Mark. I know it's a little late, but you will probably have more flights to GDL. Try going to Ajijic, a town in lake Chapala. Tequila is also a nice town to visit.
For a nice steak, go to La Matera restaurant in the city.

Tony, I don't think grain is bad at all. Just imagine Ralph Gibson's photographs without it.

-

I have both models and like the double stroke much more then the single.

-

You should stay away from that lens. Try to get the 2.8, which is much much better.

Hey Josh, how are you?
The truth is, and I think we'll all agree, it would be great to have a virtual place where people from all over could just exchange experiences and photographs and talked photography just like if they were in your living room, without having to worry about some lawyer over my shoulder telling me that I shouldn't tell my friends I took that photograph when I know well that it was made by Capa.....
I was about to contact Luis Castañeda to get his permission to upload it, but I just wanted to find the photograph to show it to my nephew's girlfriend who is a ballet buff.
All the times I got a note from you regarding something I said, I agreed with you 100%, but I know you know what I mean...

after a lot of internet research, i decided on a product called "back to black" from a company called "mothers" I got it in one of those car accesories stores in los Angeles.

Yeah JDM, it is a great photograph. It apperared on one of those leica brochures, i have quite a few of them but not with me. I could not find it in Luis Castañeda's page.
Anyway, thanks for the help and glad you liked it.

P.S. Is Josh still the moderator? It's been a while since my last visit, I hardly know the people here anymore...

Thank you Asim, I finally found the image in question. It was made by Luis Castañeda in Cuba.

Photo removed. Per the photo.net Terms of Use, do not post photos that you did not take.

-

Or maybe in the leica system brochure, if you have it you probably remember that photo...

Hi you all:
Hope you can help me. My leica brochures are back at home on the other side of the planet and I need to know whot took the photograph of the black cuban girl at a ballet class. She is surrounded by other girls and the photograph is in black and white and appears in a leica m6 brochure, i am not sure in which one.
Please, if somebody can check that for me I will buy you a beer when you come to Abu Dhabi....

I once fedexed a rolleiflex from los angeles to atlanta and the camera was lost in memphis. I insured it for 1000.00 and got 1000 back from fedex, plus the cost of the original shipping and the cost from the insurance.

My first leica, an M3 serial number 819 627, is sitting on the other side of the table where I am having breakfast right
now.My wife carried her from Mexico to Abu Dhabi a week ago, along with a summarit 50,an elmar 90 and a hektor 135.
Got her from the original buyer, receipt and everything about 10 years ago, full of fungus from being kept in a camera
bag in a closet for too long.
When I was 16 my sister gave me my first car. A VW 1967, no idiot lights on that one...

Richard, you are going to love the camera. What lenses did you order?

I also have my T shirt with Al on it. Great guy from the good old Leica forum days. There was a lot of fighting and it was a
lot of fun, Al got kicked out and banned for life, along with some other people....
I remember thet whenever one of my comments was either deleted or censored I always got a nice message from the
moderator explaining the reason, and he was always right...
