I find my 50mm. E series Nikon to be very compact and great IQ as well and dirt cheap which is a huge bonus!

-

I would go with the 70-300mm. because of the aperture ring and the flexability this allows

-

Kit lenses are a great alternative to pro lenses however the build quality really does suck!!

-

I would convert to B+W and really up the contrast!!

-

IMHO it takes a huge investment dollar wise to even get close to the results achieved with MF,

Having owned a D40 since they came out I'm still very pleased with this tiny camera I find low light performance 1600 ISO to be very good to excellant it does have a better sensor than the D70 as well more than happy with the performance

Kiron in the past has made some great extenders, however manual focus only, you should be able to pick one up used for around 50$..good luck!

Do what your client has asked,& take the images off the sight,& keep your source of income more than happy, the wedding will go so much smoother as a result!

A lifetime lens for me would be my 90mm.2.5 Tamron without a doubt!

-

In the image in response I had a similar spot appear when I udes an 82 filter on my 90mm. Tamron.... I also do not use the expensive swabs for cleaning rather a micro fibre cloth works great on my D40.

Why not pick up a teleconverter for now.

With your budget of 2100$ you should be just fine in every way good luck!!
