  1. Doan,

Why would anyone be happy NOT to see Ansel Adams name listed? Please don't give me that nonsense about "It's been done to death". Why do you think people still talk about Beethoven, Bach, etc... Ansel Adams has been "copied to death" but how many of these copy cats have that kind of power and drama in their work? Think about it.

  2. I think what we really want is "smoothness" instead of "sharpness." A painter's stroke doesn't look sharp but it does look smooth. A grainy image looks fine but when you can see an image made up of tiny dots it often looks "rough" (sometimes even painterly), but a large format image with blurred water, for example, has a a more sensual "feel" to it. The blurred water's sensualness is also heightened by other elements in the picture that are razor sharp. That's just my take on this subject.

  3. Can a lens made for an 8x10 camera be used on a 4x5 to increase

coverage area on ground glass? For example, would an 8x10 150mm be

equivalent to a 4x5 300mm with more coverage area? I just use small

movements on the 4x5 but occasionally I like get a little extreme and

    have noticed some vignetting.

    Thanks for any help,

    Enrique

  4. Does anybody know where I can get a grain focuser with a very long neck? I read about it in a book by Tim Rudman called "Master Printing Course." The neck is extra long so that when you raise the enlarger head to make large prints, you don't have to stretch your arm out way over your head. Sometimes its impossible to lower your eye down to easel level and at the same time raise your arm up to enlarger head.

    Thanks very much,

    Enrique

  5. Does anyone know if a reflex viewer can be attached to the Wisner Technical 4x5? Is there any 4x5 field camera that can have a reflex viewer attached to it, other than the Toyo 45II/45A? I've been shooting for a while and I know that the upside down/backwards image makes you "slow down" and give more thought to composition but for certain situations I need the ability to take the shot a little quicker.

    Thanks, Enrique.

  6. I have a 4x5 Omega D2 B&W enlarger with a 135mm lens and 4x5 condensor. I also have a condensor for medium format and a condensor for 35mm. When the enlarger head is fully raised the largest size print I can make is 11x14. Sometimes I would like to print larger or crop an image, which would require a larger print size. Do I need a larger lens (150mm, 200mm...?). Thanks very much.
