I had the EOS300 kit with the 28-90 lens, and 2 weeks later I took it back and got a Elan7 with a 50/1.8. Why? not because of the lens quailty, it's because the EOS 300 body is too light for me, too plastic and the Elan can do a lot more. The actual lens itself isn't bad when compare to P&S but if you can, I would still still trade it back, if not the body then just the lens for a 50/1.8.

Been there, done that. Now I have a new Elan, thank god for warranty.

Their shipping is about $30-40 I think, and 17.5% VAT through customs. And you'll have to sent them a scan/fax/email of your credit card to prove that it isn't stolen. The reason I didn't buy it from them was that, I didn't feel safe doing that. I got it from Jessops instead, not worth the hassle, possibility of returning it because of faulty unit etc.

There is no spot meter in the Elan 7, and to lock it, press the AE lock button, simple as that. Check the manual for more details, it's all there.
Lets get spell check.
