Hi,
I am new to photography and enjoying more each day.
Very recently I bought a 17-40L and a 50mm 1.8 (thanks to BobAtkins!) and I
like them both very much.
Now I need a telezoom and considering the 70x200 F4.0 or the new 70x300 IS.
They are both within my budget (which is not the case with the 70-200 2.8. In
Brazil this lenses cost 2x the USA prices due to taxes).
I use the lens to amateur photography, almost always not using an tripod and I
want images of quality. I will use then mainly for outdoor/nature photography.
70x300 pros:
- of course, the 300mm
- new IS
Both resources very interesting for handheld outdoor photography.
70x200 F4 L pros:
- well, it is the 70-200 F4 L.
thanks for your comments.

"donno what i'm gonna do with my 20d"
Noah,
Use your excellent 20D and be happy. I can assure you we are not going to see super-incredible-unbelivable-something-you-cant-do-with-a-20D photos from the new 400D.
