    I am new to photography and enjoying more each day.

    Very recently I bought a 17-40L and a 50mm 1.8 (thanks to BobAtkins!) and I

    like them both very much.

     

    Now I need a telezoom and considering the 70x200 F4.0 or the new 70x300 IS.

    They are both within my budget (which is not the case with the 70-200 2.8. In

    Brazil this lenses cost 2x the USA prices due to taxes).

     

    I use the lens to amateur photography, almost always not using an tripod and I

    want images of quality. I will use then mainly for outdoor/nature photography.

     

    70x300 pros:

    - of course, the 300mm

    - new IS

    Both resources very interesting for handheld outdoor photography.

     

    70x200 F4 L pros:

    - well, it is the 70-200 F4 L.
