Sad to report that Ed Mika has passed away in the last week. He was a dedicated Canon user and obviously a technical wizard.

Thank you for the update, John!

Long belatedly, and after suffering a heart attack myself, I'm Very sorry to hear of Ed's passing.  I've been using his FD-EF mount converter on my FD 400/2.8L, 800/5.6L, and FL 1200/11 lenses since he first introduced it.  For the conversions, I had to disassemble and reset the infinity positions on the 400mm and 800mm, and shave 2mm off the FL 1200 to allow the focusing module to reach infinity, but the results have been outstanding for lunar and avian shots.

    Happy snapping!

  2. Thanks JDMvW,

I'd tried both his websites, the number posted on one (not set up for messages) and reaching out to his LinkdIn account. The reason I specifically want Marty's mount is, unlike the adapter mounts which add space and thus require additional light and resolution-robbing elements, his corrects the flange focal distance and doesn't add glass.

The adapters adding a 1.4x tele-converting (and correction for distance) element are indeed altogether less impressive on the 1200mm lens for which I'm seeking the mount; they produce a small, round image circle in the image area - tolerable for shots of the moon, but not much else.

Thanks again for your thoughts, and happy shooting!

  3. Hi Ken! ~ I seem to be a little late to this party, but wondered (if you're still here,) if you could tell me whether you've converted the mount for a DSLR and adjusted the infinity focus. I've got the exceptional EdMika FD-EF converter mount for my 400mm/2.8 and 800mm/5.6 lenses and had no trouble at all adjusting/extending infinity on those lenses.

The focus unit for the FL 1200 is *similar,* but before I make the jump, I'd want to know about the adjustment process. Any insight you can provide will be most appreciated! Kudos, sir, on your exceptional collection of fine glass!

  4. Please help me out here, (again!) ~ I'm on the market for a PL filter for use with the

CF40 lens and Pro Shade. Light years from being able to afford $400 - $500 for a

current #41646, I'm wondering about the compatability of the older #51422 with the

    6093 Pro Shade.

Will the 6093/93 adapter ring mate the #51422 filter to a Pro Shade? (Does the older

series 93 filter have a screw mount on the front?)

    Many, many thanks!

    Chris : )

  5. Greetings All ~

I just picked up a used 6093 ProShade with the understanding that it would mate

directly onto my CF 40mm lens. Much to my dismay, neither the lens, nor the hood/

filter holder were large enough, or of the correct shape to connect. Evidentally, the

40mm does indeed require an adapter - anyone know of the top of their viewfinder

    which one?

    Thanks!

    Chris ~

  6. Hello,

Has anyone here shot with BOTH the PD-150 and the XL-1? I

would be most interested in your feedback on the qualitative

difference - is the output from the PD-150 is noticably better,

    being DVCAM format?

    Thanks!

    Chris ~
