Not quite a super clamp but I mad a few of these.
Go to the hard ware store and get metal spring clamps. Make sure that they are very tight and almost hard to squeeze. Pull the plastic handle off one side. Most have a hole there if not drill one. Get the adapter that you woild like to use from you favorite photo store and attach. Alot of mounts are different so attach as needed. A little tip to get a small sheet of rubber like what you open jars with to help the clamp from sliping when attached.
Hope it helps.

The hottest thing in fashion as of this day, spot grids.

If you have the money the Q-flashes are very nice and can give you great power for the size. Another one I like is teh sunpak 622 good GN and has several types of heads.

One question. Why go with profoto? Dont get me wrong there great I use them, but I just wanted to know why you were picking them.

Most likely your plug is not grounded properly. I had the same problem when I moved to a new house.

Ive used Minolta Auto IV and spot meters for years. I have been very happy with them and are pretty rugged as light meters go.

Take a picture and and then another when they least expext it. It work for my inlaws.

Yes it is. It just depens on how hard or soft you want the light on what type of modifier you use.

You would be amazed with what you can do with a big califronia sun bounce. There are some that are using strobes for sure. The key to to look for the reflection. For example the B&W seipa look was shot with flash, look at her glasses. The girl in the black suit on the beach was most likely a reflector.

The cutting edge portraits dont have standard technical skills. Thats what makes them cutting edge. Like mentioned above go wide or longer with a lens try no tradional lighting set up and locations. Its great that you are learning technical skill because someone will most likly want a portrait that looks like someone elses work and you will know how to creat those effects.

You could do that shot with and open door on a bright day with a couple black flags on either side of the subject. If you are going to use soft boxes use strip domes or block half a box with a flag.

Alot of those shot look to be with bounce panels Silver/gold. Some shots have stobes with a mix of modifiers. The first shot under beach has what looks to be 2 light with strait reflectors. The second a big softbox or umbrella. Id take a couple light and alot of light modifiers. The big key will be a couple assistants, especialy for the shot where you just use a bounce panel.
Good luck

I have a very technical way of metering more than one light. I use my hand to block the other lights. I have not found a diffrence from turning lights off. Now when I get alot of lights going I will have to shut them down in certian situations. But for 2 or 3 light it works fine.

Big silver umbrellas that give a high shine mixed with ambient light.

Is the guitarist the key element or just part of the picture. If he is I would have him looking at the camera. I would also use a longer lens with a tighter shot. I agree with the above post on the lighting. One last thing I personaly dont like the backgroung but if you have nothing else then go with it.
Good Luck

My last anwser was short due to time. The question to is ask is what look do you want. Do you want more natural, more edge, smooth, etc? We have been using alot parabolic relectore latly. If this is for a client, let them specify what they want. If you have and some ideas bounce them of me and I will help you as will other people.
