This is one of the first headshots I took, about two years ago, for a
young aspiring actress. This was the shot she and her parents
selected to use. I scanned the 8x10 print which I had made by a local
lab. The only manipulations done to this image was some adjustments
in contrast, some sharpening, and a little softening of a few tiny
bumps on her skin. I used one 250-watt tungsten photoflood into and
reflecting out of an umbrella. Comments?

Aaah... when I was a teenager (many, many years ago), I had a poster with a B&W image similar to this hanging on my wall. At bottom was one word: ESCAPE. I would stare at that image and get lost in it for long periods, especially when my home life was difficult or stressful.
I think that your image would be better if the sailboat were more prominent -- either larger in the frame or a whiter sail. I think there's too much grey and not enough tonal variety or interplay of light and dark. But thanks for invoking the memory of my old poster.
