I love an image like this. Subtle in the use of color (or lack of color). Abtract image. Nice composition. This is the kind of "seeing what others don't" that distinguishes photography as art from shooting pictures.

Thought it must be Carolina. One of the best beach images I've seen.
-
Outstanding. Now I can give the highest rating.
-
Great Images. I, too, am very curious as to how you got these shots from a technical point of view.
-
Beautiful "mood/subject" shot. Aesthetics are secondary here.
-
I like this image very much. Did you set out to "create" it or was it one of those happy accidents one get's from time exposures in the right circumstances?
-
Best in this folder because of stregth of color and simple compositional elements. In other words, getting the most artistic "oomph" from the "least" amount of material.
-
Actually, of all your works presented in this set I like this one the least. I realize that the framing/perspective may have been limited by what was around you (i.e. restrictions on where you could take a vantage point). I like "urban lanscapes" myself, so I know the problem. Re-croping and rotation might improve the image to my eye.
-
I also like the image a great deal. I assume you asked for input thinking there might be ways to improve it. With that in mind, I would like to see what happens if you bring up the brightness ( a very little bit) on the arch and wall in the center foreground. Subtle changes only.

I agree with the cropping suggestion. The perspective created by the shadows suggest to my eye cropping so that the figure is in foreground left. It might cost the green bench leg, though, the only real color element. Like the mood/tone of the shot a great deal.
-
Of the four so far, I think represents your best because (a) it required active composition and (b) it presents a more original viewpoint.
-
Nope! For once, better in color. Images like these mark the photographic border between representational and abstract expressionism, which appeals to me greatly.
-
I agree. Very powerful but "simple" image. I recognize the composition is not simple.
-
I sort of like the disjointed, disproportionate feel of the image. Seems like a reasonable visual analog of the emotions and feelings around the events. A unique viewpoint of reality (i.e. photography as art) with visual interest.
-
Again, a nice abstraction, what I refer to as a "texture" shot, but for some reason I want the image to "do more".
-
I also like this shot a great deal, but as an abstraction. I suppose a title can give all the explaination needed, but short. I have an affection for the "accidental image" myself.

Heather,
This is one of the best shots of this subject I've seen. The ethereal quality of the fog/lighting effects and the implicit evil in the red center fog is wonderful.
-
I love this type of shot ... pure composition with a nearly abstract expressionism effect. Nice balance and color tone.
-
I had the same impression. I like the composition but miss the contrast, both of color and texture.
-
I like the stone/organic contrast here. The omposition is also very appealing. I'd have liked more "blue" (or maybe just more contrast and less wash out) from the upper right, but a very good image for me.
-
This is your best picture in terms of aesthetics and mood from the image. Some minor techinical things I'd "adjust" like getting the near boys face a little less "washed out" by the light in the upper left. Otherwise a very nice image. Ball boy/girl has similar mood communication with less aesthetic appeal for me.

See comments on your fireplace photo. I like this kind of image. Try starting with this one and seeing what your photoshop play gives you.

I'm suspicious of getting too "enthralled" with a computers ability to manipulate images. How different that type of "creation" is from Jackson Pollock slinging paint (and I like his stuff) I don't know. But the image needs to be the focus unless these images risk degenerating to "eye candy".
