Nice shot, the only thing I'd suggest is focusing on the barrels since they seem to be the main subject of the photo. Personal choice though, I can see why you might not want the arch to be out of focus.

This is a very nice photograph - particularly since the woman's body is out of the frame, it really focuses the attention on the effect her contact has on the subject. It's not easy to convey tactile impressions through a visual medium, but you pulled it off nicely.

I actually like it with the bridge in the middle - the trees in the upper left and the hill's slope under the bridge balance out the composition nicely, and that would be lost with the bridge in another place.

Hi Eric, that's a pretty good translation. Sorry about the language thing, when I saw your comment about photos from Leipzig combined with your last name, I assumed you were German.

Definitely two thumbs up. I like the fact that her clothing and position half out of the window is a bit rebellious, but at the same time she's got a contemplative peaceful look on her face.

 

Which leads me to a philosophical question about photography - would this picture have been enhanced if the photographer had gone up to her afterwards, talked to her, learned the context surrounding the photo, and incorporated this context in the presentation of the photo? Or does the photo capture a moment that stands on its own, and might even be ruined by explaining what's going on outside of it?

Ich mag es. Die Gebäuden sehen ganz unfreundlich aus, man kann auch von dem Mann sehen, daß es kalt ist, und die Kontrast zwischen den beleuchteten Seiten des Gebäudes und die Schatten am Rand des Bildes verstärkt dieses kalte unfreundliche Gefühl.

 

Diese Photo steigt aber in Bedeutung mit Ihrer Erklärung von der Geschichte hinter dem Bild - es würde mich interessieren, anderen Photos zu sehen, die die Erlebnissen von Leipzig nach der Wiedervereinigung darstellen.
