<p>Hi Cristian,<br>
Germany: www.isarfoto.com<br>
UK: warehouseexpress.com<br>
I've purchased from both these shops several times in the past and would have no reservations doing so again.<br>

Michael,
Obviously the need for using FP comes from the need for faster shutterspeeds, which is of course closely coupled to shallow(er) DOF :-)
I can't really give you any qualitative info on flash output as a function of aperture/shutterspeed, but the SB80DX can - It continously tells you an effective distance as a function of the current shutterspeed/aperture combination when in FP mode :-)

Michael,
I often use the D1x/SB80DX in FP-mode for a bit of fill outdoors on sunny days etc. As others have pointed out, there is not a lot of power available, but even a little is better than nothing...

Hi Michael,
I'm using the D1x with an SB80DX. It is indeed possible to use the "FP" sync mode with whis combination, which gives you the possibility of sync'ing up to 1/8000 (me thinks).
The SB80DX/D1x combo can D-TTL sync up to 1/500s.

Hi Jim,<br>
<p><a href="http://www.kirkphoto.com">www.kirkphoto.com</a> is a good place to buy Kirk products :-) Or if you're in Europe: <a href="http://www.warehouseexpress.com">www.warehouseexpress.com</a></p>

Bought a 135mm/2.0 DC for approx. EUR500. Nice toy for the christmas season :-)

I can help you exclude a range of serial numbers: My D1x has 5101573 and did *not* have the upgrade from the factory.

Jorgen, please be aware that the E-model teleconverters will not mate with the non-AFS/AFI lenses (AFG also?). If you want to use either with a 180mm/2.8 you will need to file off a small metal thingy tab in the TC...
Search the forums and you will file plenty of references to this and probably also pictures of the "offender" ;-)

Moderator, could you please tell Ellis and Dave to take their discussion of german steel to the Leica forum ;-)
Have a good one,

Squeaking sound from AF-S 500mm F4 II
in Nikon
Posted
<p>I have had the AF-S squeak on two lenses, a 17-35/2.8 and 28-70/2.8. The first one failed completely and the AF-S motor had to be replaced at a cost of around 5000DKK (approx 800USD in todays rates). The 28-70 fails intermittently so I suspect it's going to fail completely too at some point, and then I'll replace it with a 24-70/2.8...<br>
<br /> My point is that you should definitely not consider the squeak something that may just go away! Additionally, I seem to recall that there are several threads on the AF-S squeak in this forum.<br>
Cheers,<br />Anders</p>
