For years I watched Canon Photo Safari but haven't seen it in a couple of years. Does anyone know if it still airs and
if so, where and when. Also any other shows on television covering photography would be of interest.

Chris,
I'm confused as to the better glass factor in your regretting the move up to the 20D. Can you explain?

I appreciate the comments. I guess what I want is a MkIIN with no 1.3 cropping. That's the only drawback, I really like wide angle when traveling abroad. Guess I could go with the 17 -40 lens -- just wish it had a little more of the high end. By unified 1 series camera, is it anticipated they'll introduce something like the IIN that is full frame?

I've been using a 1V for a couple of years, but with the intro of
these two new bodies, this may be a good time to jump over to digital.
They are close enough in price for me to rule that out as a factor.
Any opinions on the best choice. I enjoy all around photography. My
everday lense is a 24 - 85. I have a 1 - 4L IS for telephoto. There
doesn't seem to be a lens which would replicate close to this range
for the IIDn. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. This is
my first digital and I want to make the best choice.

The 1v has separate buttons for automatic exposure lock and flash
exposure lock. If you're in difficult background vs. subject
lighting situations, can I correctly assume both can be used
together? I would like to point away from the subject to the
background and engage AEL, then back to the subject and FEL. I know
in aperture priority this is supposed to do that for you, but where
the subject is large in the viewfinder, I worry the background won't
be properly exposed. Another example, photographing someone inside a
room in front of a window with a scenic view (daylight outside).
Aperture priority or Program will usually overexpose the outside
view. Please, any help would be truly appreciated.

Steve,
Unlike the RC transmitter, the 550 uses an optical pulse. I had the same question. What you're seeing is this communication and it actually goes off before the shutter is open, just like the preflash works. This is my understanding.

Does anyone use the optional software for the 1v? In cataloguing the
film rolls, you're provided a film roll number. There is a place to
include the title you assign that particular film roll. I can't see
anyway to search on that title. There is also a place in the film
roll screen to enter remarks for that roll( not ind. frames). I can
see no way to search on the remarks, either. If say, down the road I
have several hundred rolls catalogued in the computer and want to
look for "Easter 04" for example, how would that be done? I can see
no way to search by title. When I try to search on the Remarks, I get
individual frames. If anyone has any input on how to manage this
film info in the software, I really would appreciate the help.

Thanks, Bob. I recognize your name so I'm sure this is dead on. If you don't mind my asking, your opinion of the 1v vs 3?

My EOS 3 and lenses were stolen last week. When replaced, I'm
considering going with a 1v instead of the 3. Any opinions here
would be welcome. Is a newer version of the 1v around the corner? I
read in a post that ETTL II was coming out -- I don't want to get the
1v, and find out a month later, the newer version was available. Does
anyone have any info about this?

I've purchased equipment from B&H and been very happy with the
results. Last week all of my gear was stolen and I'm submitting my
claim to the insurance co. I'm afraid they will just look for
the "cheapest prices" out of New York with no regard to quality of
service. Does anyone have any info on who is and is not ethical to
deal with?
