I don't think anybody has mentioned the 200mm f4 micro. It produces the creamiest bokeh of all my lenses. Here
are a couple of examples:
-
I use the Tokina 11-16mm with my D300. As other posters have suggested, it is a specialty lens, but when you
need it, you NEED it! It's a great lens to have in your bag, but don't expect to use it much for general purpose
photography. I have used it for interior shots and some landscapes. I sold my Nikon 12-24mm for this lens based on
the reviews. I have not been disappointed in it at all in terms of its sharpness and build quality over the Nikon 12-
24mm. It does distort a little too much for my taste at 11mm. If you have an 18mm-?mm zoom in your bag, then
the 11-16mm makes sense for you. The 14-24mm won't take a filter, which is no good if you want to shoot

I use Photoshop CS3 and have an Epson Stylus R2400 printer. When I edit my RAW
images, I save them as 16-bit uncompressed, unsharpened TIFF files. When I get
ready to print from one of these TIFF files, I sharpen the image first, but I
have noticed that when I print 8 X 10 photos from one of these now sharpened
TIFF files, the photo is not sharp. My question is should I view the image on
my monitor at 100% to determine what level of sharpness to apply to the image?

In one hour (sorry for the last minute request) I have agreed to photograph a
male co-worker who will be using the photograph(s) on an online dating site.
He is wearing a suit and is in his mid 20's. He is somewhat heavy-set. We
will be photogrpahing in an office complex environment with large buildings
around us. How should I pose him? What kind of body posture works best?

Thank you for all the great responses. It's more fun posting here than using that boring manual. Russ, love that Sopranos shot!! I would like to re-phrase my question. I would like to know what features I will NOT get using the SB-600 on the old film bodies vs. the D70. My objective is to sell my SB-24 if the SB-600 can fully replace it.
-
I rarely shoot with flash, but I broke down and bought the SB-600 just in case.
I have a Nikon D70, N80, and FM3-A. Will my SB-600 be TTL compatible with all
three cameras?

Actually I fixed the problem. Under Preferences/Performance, I found that it was using an old drive with very little room on it for a scratch disc. I changed that preference to my current larger drive which solved the whole problem. It is running lightening fast now.
-
I don't have a MAC but I was having the same problem on my PC with CS3 running very slow compared to CS2. I went to Preferences/Performance (under Edit) in Photoshop CS3 and found that the scratch disk was set to an old drive with very little space on it. I switched it to my active main drive and it immediately cleared up the problem.
-
CS3 runs from slow to almost non-responsive on my computer whereas CS2 runs perfectly fine. It hogs the CPU for some reason. I have downloaded the trial version and unless they can make it run faster, I won't be purchasing it.

I apologize if my question was too vague. I live near Washington DC in Northern VA. I am close to 3 major airports. I have no problem traveling to the west coast. I have been to GSMNP about 3-4 times and I do love it, but I would like a change. I will be going with my 15 year-old son who does not mind the nature aspect, but a city or some form of entertainment nearby in the evenings for him would be nice, too. I do not have any special high-powered telephoto lenses for exotic wildlife photography, but I enjoy most other types of nature photography.
What about Las Vegas? Aren't there some great nature spots within an hour or two from there? I could rent a car and we could go in and out of Vegas. I am also wondering about the New England coast. Any ideas for that area?
I am in the initial stages of planning and very open to all ideas. This forum was very helpful to me when planning my last trip to Tucson AZ.

I have one week off this summer for travel-July 30-August 6. I would like to
go somewhere that offers good nature photography. I generally think of fall and
spring for best times of the year to get nature shots. I am really not sure
where to go first week of August for great nature photo ops. Can anyone suggest
a place? I live on the east coast but am willing to travel to the west coast
or Canada if I have to.
