<p>Have you tried lite panels? They are not cheap, but are very versatile. On many models you can vary the color temp of the light. They have spots and floods. </p>

<p>Ellis is absolutely right here. I have had a high end camera strap that screws into the tripod mount snap off. Fortunately, I was able to stop the fall of my camera with my foot. But YES, they do snap off. Do not trust any of these. If you do use them, use an extra tether cable as a safety back up. Trust me, THEY BREAK. Be very careful.</p>

<p>Ralph, I think you did a great job. You captured great moments and you will learn more and more from each wedding. You have to start somewhere and you are off to a great start. I think Bruce's comments were uncalled for. In my experience, people who are highly critical like Bruce are usually just insecure about their own work. The first wedding is tough but it seems like you were prepared. Again, great job and best of luck in the future.</p>

<p>Anne, where do you live? I would re-shoot your family portraits for free. And you will get every image to print any way you want. </p>
<p>There are many unethical business owners out there, and I think this lady is one of them. You should let the event organizer know not to deal with this person again, or make sure that she is very upfront and honest in her ad. Something tells me that she was not. </p>

<p>Does anybody know what happened to Alex Lee? I used to admire his beautiful natural light portraits, but have not seen his work in years, and I cannot find him anywhere on the web. Does he have a new website?</p>

<p>Hi everyone, I shoot a lot of event photography. I am looking for some type of "template" site where I can create a theme and post photos there for event attendees to browse and download if they choose. Also, I would not be charging for the photos. <br>
I am looking for something that is very user friendly for both the photographer and the event attendees.<br>
Is there something that can be built from either photoshop or lightroom that might meet these requirements?<br>
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>Steve has some great points. Getting 100 people in the photo is not the easiest thing to do. I have done many of these, and I think he has given you some good options. Plan this out ahead. If you can get photo risers they can be very helpful, but they can also be costly. Your best bet is to get higher. </p>

<p>No, i never had the chip updated. Honestly, I have used this lens a handful of times and it has been sitting in my closet for years. </p>

<p>I am trying to find out if anybody knows what this lens is worth. <br>
Thanks</p>

Hi Maria, I have the 16-35 L and I have to say I have been very dissapointed with that lens. It is soft. I know other pros who have switched to the 17-40 which is not an L lens and are much happier.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks Everyone. I should have mentioned. I am not teathered and cannot be. I hand off CF cards to my assistant and she downloads the images. I am just looking to see if there is any software that makes cropping and printing faster. Maybe 5x7 templates that go right to print without having to create a 5x7 picture package for every two images that I shoot and then send them to print. Thanks again for any help.

Hi everyone. I am seeking advice on making my process a little bit easier. Let me
explain what I do. I shoot couple photos at black tie events and print 5x7's on site
using 3 or 4 Epson R800 printers. My process is to hand the compact flash card
off to my assistant. She opens my photos in photoshop crops them to 5x7 then
uses photoshop print package to print 2 5x7's per page. We have the printers
spooled so we can keep sending jobs to the printer. The process works fine, but it
is slow and I am sure there is a better way out there. Is there software that will
speed up this process? I want to be able to print 2 5x7 per page. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am having a difficult time determining what type of flash bracket that I
need. This is what I have. Canon Mark III that I want to use with Lumidyne
flash heads. I want the flash over the lens and I want the option of bouncing
the flash off of card or going direct. I also want to be able to shoot
vertically with flash above lens. I am just having a tough time finding the
right bracket. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Danny, I took a look at your photos and they are very impressive. Beautiful work, and I am sure you will be very successful.

Thank you all for your input. I apologize that I did forget to mention that I am shooting portraits.

In my set up, I am using two softboxes for my key and fill. One is a larger
softbox than the other. Should the larger softbox be used as the Key or Fill?
Thank you

Hi Eugenio, I agree with all of the above advice. I shoot these type of events all of the time, and in my experience candid shots during the coctail hour or social do not work too well. I usually walk around and look for small groups of people mingling and ask them if I can take a quick shot of them together. People are always receptive to this. Always take two because I guarentee somebody will have their eyes closed in one. Try to do a lot of these type photos. My customers always like these the best. Bounce if you can. And also shoot manually and shoot with the slowest shutter speed you can handle to pick up ambient light. Good luck.

Thanks Ben and Garry. And I will take your advice and start shooting raw. I am still using CS and i cannot crop in raw. Garry, you mentioned to use the rectangular marquee tool and set to 4x5 What do you do after that? How do you crop?

Hi everyone, I guess this is more of a workflow question and I need some
advice. I have only shot a few weddings and have done fine, but I really
struggle with the workflow afterwards. I shoot jpeg convert to TIFF and do
some adjustments. Now is where I get stuck. I like to crop my photos even for
proofs, but I am not sure the right way to do this. I am shooting on Canon
Mark II 1D. Out of 500 shots I want to crop about 200 of them. I am probably
going to make an 8X10 album, so should I be cropping everything to 8x10? What
if the B&G want an 11x14 later. I know this is probably basic, but I have
been struggling with this.
Will 50mm and 70-200mm lenses be enough for a non-profit event?

<p>Hey JJ,<br>
If they are the only lens choices, I would go with the 50. At some point, try to add a 24-70 to your arsenal. If I only had one lens, it would be the 24-70. You can shoot almost anything with that lens. <br>
If you are doing this as a favor, just take the 50 1.8 and do the best you can. I am sure you will do a great job</p>
