Makes me feel cold. Nice image, but there's something about the composition I don't like. I think it's the sign on the right and the dark shadow on the top left. Possibly if you cropped those out I think it would improve the image, in my opinion.

Good Catch, not just the fish, but you catching the action!

Not sure I like how the images are run together. I wonder if it would work a little better with a little framing around each one?

  1. Very colorful, interesting image. I'm thinking it would be even better if you had focused on a particular point of interest. For example I see the ducks in the lower left, but they're just at the edge of the frame and aren't striking enough to hold attention. I find my eye searching around for the point of interest.

Thanks for any comments/critiques on this image. Tried to get it a

close to the printed image as possible, but the limits of .jpg made

it a little difficult. Overall, pretty much what I was aiming for.

  2. Thanks for the compliment. I don't much listen to those other critiques that throw rocks at an image but don't suggest what could be done or even say what they think is wrong.

I agree with the composition. There's a lot of "mass" on the left side of the image that's not balanced. It was one of those opportunities where the light on this rock lasted less than a minute and I had no opportunity to move for another angle without getting in the way of another photographer who was shooting the same thing. Not sure if cropping would help either.

I'm not sure what's the deal with the image being too large. I was thinking the guidelines were to upload 1024 on the largest side or less. I think this is about 990. Is there a better size to upload?

    Thanks again for the comments.

  3. Thanks for the compliments. Before having to convert it to the right mode to save on photo.net, the saturation actually comes out just a little higher, but I do like it the way it is. I also like it in B&W but I personally like color better in most images.

Nice image. The repeating pattern of widows and changing colors is interesting. I wonder if it would be better if the right side was cropped out or something since it's the only place I see the roof line.
  4. What are your thoughts on this photo? This young duck was sleeping

with his head resting on his back (shoulders?) He would

periodically open and close his eye. (Much better with his eye

    open!)

Thanks for any comments and/or ratings.

  5. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Yes I think it was a bit too green, although upon playing with the color balance some more I think the optimum (the way I remember seeing it) a bit greener than your version. I do appreciate the suggestions and am not offended at all by them.

  6. This little guy was so calm and patient. I photographed him for several minutes getting closer and closer -- taking off the tele-extender and then zoooming out as I got closer. Finally saw these two trees and manuvered myself and waited for him to move to just the right spot before getting this frame.
