1.
Bob, thanks for your input...I'm hoping its just a problem similar to yours that is able to work itself out, or with little help from myself. I'm going diving next weekend and am looking forward to using my underwater housing - I hope my camera functions fine then (and forever after that as well!).
Thank you!

 2.
The battery was just charged up on Friday, so it should have been full. I use the camera regularly, and charge the battery regularly as well. I will see if there is tarnish in there, although wouldn't the camera not work at all if that is the problem, since I can view pics but not take any?
The situation repeated itself without the change in temperature. The first time I was out in the snow (but the camera had been tucked in an interior jacket pocket), the second time was inside a building.
Thanks for your input so far!

 3.
I have been using my Canon SD800 IS for about a year and a half now, taking over 8000 pictures with it. It's my go-to quick camera to throw in my pocket when I'm working outside (which is every day). Yesterday, I threw it in my pocket to walk around in fresh-fallen snow and when I went to take a picture, the screen went blank and it would not take any pictures. It also did not respond to shutting off when I pressed the power button for a minute or so. I tried it several times with the same response. I could view previously taken pictures, but could not take any.
I got back to my place later in the afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised when suddenly it began working again. I hoped it had just been a fluke and that it would be fine. But, this morning I went to take a picture, and the same situation repeated. Again, this afternoon it appears to be fine.
Does anyone know what is going on or how to go about fixing it? I don't want this to continue to happen, especially with it being so unexpected.
I've actually never had problems with Canon cameras before (the small digital I had previously or my digital Rebel XT), so I'm hoping this is fixable?
Thank you for any helpful responses!
A.B.
