  1. <p>I have printed a number of photobooks with Shutterfly and with the addition of the photobook module in LR4 beta I was very interested in finding out if/what Shutterfly may be planning to integrate as Blurb has done. I posted this question to Shutterfly Customer Service last week and received the following in reply:<br>

<em>"We are trying to add the feature that you are referring and have passed along your valuable suggestion to our product development department for their review. I appreciate the time you took to send us your comments."</em><br>

So if you are a Lightroom user who prints with Shutterfly, or may choose to do so, I encourage you to post here and let them know how important it is to us! I will be posting back to their customer service with this thread. <br>

In the meantime I'm going to try a book with Blurb via the LR4 module and check them out!</p>

  2. <p>Oh have I been there! Batteries! Batteries! Batteries! Great job recovering. Makes me cringe everytime I come across a photographer who shoots events like this with a single body. Even with multiple digital bodies I still bring a film body, batts, and a bag off film just in case! Your lessons learned are right on track- best of luck with your next.<br>

As a side note my old 20d gives me the error 99 once in a while, but turning it off, removing the battery, and then replacing always fixes it.</p>

  3. <p>The effects through the viewfinder of your 1Ds2 should be fairly obvious, but to really see I tethered my camera to my laptop during practice to get larger image feedback. I've used the Canon 45mm TSE for portrait work handheld on a 5D. It was much easier to learn basics for my purpose practicing with a tripod. Once I had the basics down for the effects I was attempting hand-holding became more practical.</p>
  4. Anyone have any idea why the Jpegs I am exporting from Lightroom (originally

CR2s from a 5d) would generate a question mark on the screen when I try to print

them with my Selphy CP730 4x6 dyesub printer. I am coping the finished jpegs to

a CF card and then plug the CF into the Selphy. I have used this process for

years via DPP without issue, but just got Lightroom. I have tried every conceivable

variation in generating the Jpegs based on the options in LR and nothing works.

    thanks- mike

  5. This is pretty easy with a Photoshop action. Search here and also check the help menu in photoshop for actions and it will explain the steps. As this will be your first run with actions I would suggest making copies of a chunk of your photos to do test runs on without potentially destroying the originals. Also-your pixel dimensions for your 4x6s is off in its math or way too small. At 350ppi your pixel dimensions should be 1400x2100.
  6. In the most recent issue of Rolling Stone they feature a number of

past portraits including a recent one of Johnny Cash. In the

portrait the highlights in the eyes are a pair of long vertical

lines. I was wondering if anyone would know how to reproduce this

effect. Is it done with flourescent tubes or something else? (Sorry

I do not have the image avail to post so hopefully someone out there

who can respond has the issue) Thanks!

  7. My motherboard burned out and I now have reason to replace the Mobo,

processor, and ram (to ddr). If i wanted to do some light Premier

    work (maybe 5-10hrs a month)and some personal Photoshop work(maybe 5

hours a week) would any of you have a recommendation as to if an AMD

XP or P4 processor will be a better buy. Is one better suited to

this work. No gaming, Light Wp, and internet. Ive got a good

videocard and a couple nice fast hard drives. ANything to help steer

my descision to what best for a weekend warrior is appreciated. My

budget is not unlimited, but I am willing to save up and wait for a

    significant perfomance improvement.

    Thanks-mike

  8. I have the ATI Radeon "all in wonder" card for video editing. The software it came with (Ulead Videostudio) allows me to place a still image into a video sequence and specify the time that it is shown on screen. I would guess this is how you could do it as well. The graphics card has an output to return the "movie" back to tape. This movie would be your slide show.

I am not familiar with Dazzle, maybe you can do it with that program as well.

  9. I don;t know about the rest of the list he posted, but Roland has recently been selling a new Color Infrared Chrome that can be processed C41 in the 35 mm size. I checked Kodaks site and they say this film is also stocked in the 70mm size x 100 ft.

B&H does not list it but I would imagine can special order it. $200-300 I would guess.

Roland long ago in another thread said he had a way of cutting this 70mm film down to 61mm to fit your MF cams. Give you at 30+ rolls of 120. Imagine a falsecolor infrared you can shoot in your MF, and process either c41 or E6.

Roland, hope you don;t mind me spreading the word.
