    John:

The more I look at this the more I like it. The many shades of green contrast nicely with the overcast sky. I live up off Rte 30 and I have seen this barn while out on drives but your photo made me stop and look.

  1. Greg:

I waited for those darn sheep to give me a "better" view ;-) It was interesting how they pretty much chomped away as a group in line.

Bruce: my scanner is pretty bad. The original is pretty sharp but the colors could be better as you noted. I am starting to shoot slide film (Provia 100F) and I will probably have to get a decent scanner. My recent trip to France/Germany was first time I have picked up my old SLR in about 8 years. I am haivng a great time relearning photography and I very much appreciate everyones feedback and help.

Hope you all enjoy this "sheep shot". My wife injured her shoulder when she slipped as we climbed down the road to take photos. I may post the photo with her in it just so you can see what a trooper she was to grin an bear it. It is still hurting her.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    Hello:

I am interested in landscapes. Feedback would be appreciated.

Keeping mind my cheapo scanner, can you comment on composition etc.

As background, this was not a point-n-shoot. I spent two mornings

trying to capture a nice image. What do you think of this one??

    Thanks!

  2. This is near the entryway to L'Abbaye Blanche which is located on the north edge of the town of Mortain in France. I stopped here because my uncle was involved in heavy fighting in World War 2 around this location after D-Day. He was a medic in the 30th Infantry Division (1bn, 119th Reg). The battle of Mortain is little known but helped turn the tide of the war. This is where Hitler tried to commit his forces to counter the D-Day landings. The Germans would have won except for the courage of the 117th regiment to hold the hill above town.

I stumbled into this photo. I walked through an outer door from the sunlight and this is what I saw.

I did not expect to find such beauty here.

  3. This is at the American cemetary overlooking the D-Day landing area at Omaha Beach. 9,937 American soldiers lie in rest. (You may recognize this from the opening and final scenes of "Saving Private Ryan".) I was there at the very time of the terrorist attacks against the USA on 9/11/2001. What caught my eye here was the little American flag. Someone had placed little flags at the grave markers of "unknown soldiers".

God Bless those who gave their lives for freedom on June 6th 1944 and on September 11th 2001.
