A well thought-out and composed picture. It would have been improved with some more sharpness perhaps; but the softness is certainly in keeping with trying to read by the light of just one candle.

I really like the way there is a catch-light in the eye, and the eye is in focus.
That all involves the subject in the photograph in a way that is very appealing.
