  1. Being "of a certain age" myself I quite like underarm hair but stubble definitely doesn't look good.

My technique is to select the area, copy and paste it onto another layer and apply gaussian blur sufficiently that the detail is completely lost. Then I set the opacity so that just enough detail is visible to look natural but not stubbly. Using "curves" I adjust the second layer until the highlights and shadows match the surrounding areas, then increase the colour saturation until the grey look is gone. Finally I merge the layers.

It sounds fiddly but actually it's quicker than writing it!

    Best wishes,  Jonathan

  2. Classic stance and nice control of the direct sunlight. I feel I would like to see more of her lovely reflection - but that would change the composition completely.

  3. This perfectly expresses that joyous experience of freedom which goes with feeling the sun and fresh air on your body in natural surroundings.  Her pose is magical.  This has to be one of my all-time favorites.

Best wishes and congratulations to both of you,

    Jonathan

  4. A great capture and I'm sure its popularity is based on a universal male obsessiional curiosity, being enacted in the most blatant way - apparently with the aquiescence of the "model".

It also illustrates a strange quirk of this curiosity which is that the covered breast seems to be more interesting than the already exposed ones.  The disapproving look of the other "model" could have several interpretations: "How dare he?", "How dare she?" and "What's she got that I haven't?"

     "All life is here!"

It's a dramatic image - I would regard it as photo-art rather than art photography as the first impression is "not real" and then on closer inspection "OK it is based on a real photo but heavily processed". The oversaturated people-zone is effective at drawing a distinction between them and their surroundings but I am unfortunately reminded of those naff selectively desaturated shots and that puts me off.

Overall the concept is good but it would work much better IMHO if done in a more subtle and realistic way.

  5. Well I agree with John Peri (as usual) and Charly K. For me the slightly random effect of the stray hair gives it a great sense of natural reality. The exposure - viewed on my Mac (calibrated) screen - is spot-on: you could increase the dynamic range (you're not using the top 15 levels) but more exposure would degrade the highlights. You could lighten the eyes and sharpen the lashes slightly but you would have to be very careful to avoid the hyped advertising-shot effect.

With such a beautiful subject all you need to do is engage and capture her in a charming shot and you have done that perfectly.

  6. Excellent composition using the powerful props nature provides, and nice handling of the direct low sunlight. Katy-T is a wonderful model - I nearly worked with her in England but the opportunity didn't quite work out (BTW I agree with Michael C).

I hope you will be inspired to do more "nude in nature" shots...

    Best wishes,  Jonathan

PS I just saw that you have done some very nice beach sessions including another of Katy

  7. Interesting "concealed/revealed" concept, great pose and lighting.  The isolated effect does work well though personally I would like to see a little more context (some venetian furniture or somethinh like that)
