  1. My HP 90 exhibits a strange behavior. When printing, the color on the first few inches of the print seem

fine, but then I get a strong green cast. I tried all the tools offered by the maintenance tool, to no avail.

Can someone help identify the problem?

I am using mac os X, the inks tanks are full or almost full. The HP has been disconnected for about 4

    months, as I moved overseas.

Printing other kind of documents, like web pages, some text with colored charts poses no problem, the

    colors are appropriate.

  2. Bob,

The point is that Leica should expand its customers base beyond those who used to trick their M3 20 or 40 years ago! For those used to the M, putting a filter might be an acceptable solution, but to expand to new customers and professionals, that is going to be tough. Let's see what the market will decide 3 to 6 months down the road...and what Leica's response will be eventually.

  3. What matters for Leica is to sell camera outside the circle of Leica aficionados. Leica has to bring in and convince existing users of Canon or Nikon DSLR that the M8 is a better alternative. Now imagine a DSLR user ready to sweep her plastic card for an M8 being told that, by the way, to get the best out of the camera you need to get an Infra Red filter, otherwise you might encounter some magenta or purple colors on some fabrics...the filter is $100. How many will run away? Most of them have used DSLR or SLR and have never encountered such a problem and never heard anyone with such problems, even on their $300 digicam. Even though this would be the best solution to get the best picture in the world, it would need a lot of convincing and marketing to bring in customers by the thousands.

I was on the line for a M8, but last week I decided I ll wait a few more months, whatever the solution is. I canceled my order and got my downpayment back. In the meantime....films have never been so good!

  4. At a minimum the review should have mentioned existing problems and that, when contacted, Leica promised they would be addressed. Now not only Leica went ahead and shipped units they knew were prone to some defects, but they acted irresponsibly with the reviewer, who now is being criticized. If these problems had been published earlier, if all actors had been more candid, Leica would have been in a position to fix these problems before shipping the units.
