  1. I use Nikon Coolpix 5700, and this is designed to have macro capability only in the lower half focal length, only optical side. This limitation statement is printed in the 170 page instruction book and it is well burried. The Coolpix 5000 may have a similar limitation of macro mode.
  2. I just received Nikon bellows PB-6 and several parts for the Nikon F3 camera body for close-up photos.

My writing on this topic is about four months behind since the last posting in March this year.

I have read the instruction sheet [two pages from the "Macro copy Stand PB-6M" by Nikon]. I am using this setup: Nikon F3 + Nikon PB-6 bellows + reverse ring + Nikon 24 mm lens reversed + Nikon copy Stand PB-6M. According to the instruction sheet p. 2, the extension for the reversed lens mode should be 83mm, and the working distance should be 40mm, and this setup will produce the reproduction ratio of 3.9x. This is wonderful. Now, my question is: How do we measure the extension from the rear end of the reversed lens to the front of the camera body or the film plane, or something else?

What is the best focal distance of my 24mm lens? Shall I set it to infinity, as the instruction sheet says "the reproduction ratio are those obtained at infinity"?
