Micki, when you see it and nobody else does, what you are most likely dealing with is spyware. The pop ups may not be coming from the internet at all, but from your computer (you know - like that spooky movie, "the call is coming from inside the house!"). I would suggest running an anti-spyware program like AdAware and running your Anti-virus software.

I don't have a definitive answer, but I do have a theory. A quick search revealed a newer 4-bulb version on eBay. They called it a "movie light" with no further info. I'm guessing it is a light unit to assist in the filming of movies.

You don't say why you want to upgrade to the D300. Perhaps you should buy the lenses first. You may discover that to be enough!

The short answer is indeed: once you snap the pic, it's yours. It does help to have some way to prove it though (keep your file with Exif info). But regardless of how easily edited, if displaying publicly, I would still add the © symbol tastefully in a corner as a deterrent. <br><br>If you want to dig for the real answer in the US, the U.S.Copyright Office website is a nice read: http://www.copyright.gov/

Ordered mine at a local retailer. Waited a week then couldn't wait any more. Ordered one on eBay. The camera store called the same day mine arrived in the mail!I should have waited. The eBay lens was Gray Market. No warranty for me, but my- what a fine lens it is!

I have the perfect formula for predicting this. The price will drop as soon as you buy one. Happens every time.

I worked retail for many years and it was common knowledge that extended warranties are generally valid for rare purchases and otherwise looked down upon. Most are never collected upon, and if they are - be ready to jump through some hoops. The Nikon warranty should be enough. (Nice swan - but a bit overexposed ;)

Lens Cap? :)
Sounds to me like a bad battery connection. Perhaps there was lint stuck in the battery chamber. This would explain the intermittent performance and the battery reading.

I concur. The price of a new camera is worth not having to worry about a used camera - especially one that has been handled by multiple users.

Now now - let's not all get our panties in a bunch. Perhaps the person sending the message misunderstood the privacy policy (which he obviously did since it's on their own website.). I've had very good luck dealing directly with Nikon in the past. Canon is certainly superior in marketing, but I don't think Nikon has anything "up their a**".

It will be a steep learning curve having a Digital Rebel XT as your first camera. I would sttrongly agreee that buying a book on basic photography methods would be of great benefit to you.

..I've had my D70 for a year now and it's been outstanding~! No issues except for the recall on the battery which they replaced immediately for free.

Two factors could effect an eBay price:<br><br> 1.What is their feedback? Anything below a 85% or less than 20 feedbacks should be suspect. Read previous feedbacks for a good idea of what the seller is about. Without decent feedback, I wouldn't touch it.<br> <br>2. Many eBayers will start at a lower price to save on fees. The real price isn't realized until the auction is over. <br><br>Outside of eBay, buyer beware as there are many bait and switch retailers offering rediculous discounts. If it sounds to good to be true....<br><br>Just an observation: My previous camera was a Minolta A1 which I bought for $899.00. Six months later is was down to $699, then after the A2 came out it dropped to as low as $499. If you can wait for the D200 to come out, It's almost certain you'll see a huge price drop.

It is pretty much a toss-up between Nikon and Canon. Note that Canon generally has a stronger marketing ability, so you mae see more of them. But in the end, both systems are about the same. I agree with the first post - see which camera feels best to you and go with it.

Are you looking at just the body or the body with kit lens? They sell it both ways.

The main reason to flatten or merge the image is to condense the information so you can make the file smaller and more portable. If you are only going to print, there is no reson to flatten other than to shorten the time it takes to print.

I primarily use PBase for the simplicity of setting up seperate galleries. After I've done a shoot of a particular subject, I can create that gallery and send the URL to the customer/subject. Depending on the template you choose, the galleries are sharp simple and professional looking. Plenty of room as well, and at $20 a year - it's a bargain.

I've got the Nikon 18-70 and a Tamron 28-200 that I'm very happy with.
