1. Well the link says 2279 $ for those living in the France or the E.U.

(with the VAT). This sale's on this site since the M7's been

    around.
When the M7 goes down to $1916, I'll surely take

the TGV to Paris. Anyway thanks for the info.
Bonsoir

  2. The M7 is 2849$ while the M6 goes for 2600$. You can have the

VAT back if you don't belong to the E.U. Grey market is almost

    non-existent here in France.

The address above is a good place for Leicas. Get yourself

"Paris Photo", a small and an interesting journal on international

photography. It's in french and english. Have a good trip.

  3. I don't have a RE but I'll go with my guesses (RE owners should

be here soon). Often "m" is for the manual mode : you choose

the aperture/shutter with the help of the meter indication in the

viewfinder. "A" with a circle should be Aperture priority (you

choose the aperture, the camera sets the shutter speed) with

center weighted or spot metering. Without the circle may also be

the Aperture Priority mode but with overall metering (something

    like the multizone).

Your +/- button should be to override the aperture/shutter

combination (over/under exposure). In the R7 you press the

button with the +/- sign and you turn the ISO dial to +/- exposure.

Hope I'm clear and correct. I once had a R7 but it's been long

gone and I don't recall the buttons or the functions.

  4. Well it's a chrome model with the MN in the flat part. The SL is

marked as usual on the left side of the flat part. The person who

gave this to me now says the MN stand for Marine Nationale

(National Marine in french) but he has a limited knowledge on

cameras (thought the SL was a rangefinder). leicagallery.com

has a rare rating for a "Munich Numbered" Leicaflex....

    Thanks for your responses.

  5. I have just been handed a Leicaflex SL which has a huge "MN"

marked on the front (above the lens bayonet where it's normally

LEICA in the later R series). Now I know that leica is famous for

these strange engravings but I just can't seem to find any

informations on the "MN". Any idea what this could be.... looks

    original to me.

Help will be highly appreciated and any recommendations on

Leica literature on identifying cameras or lenses are welcome

    too.

    Merci beaucoup.

  6. I am selling a CHROME Leicaflex SL2 for a friend of mine and

we both are unsure about it's resale value. Would appreciate any

help from the gurus here. Not many SL2's on eBay and the

erratic prices are rather confusing. The SL2 is in a great user

condition and comes with it's leather case.

    Thanks.

  7. Hi, I have come across a black paint M4 in excellent condition with only slight brass

visible on the top plate. The M4 features in the original black paint serial number lists.

According to your experiences and knowledges, how much should I be willing to pay for

it. Any opinions/collector views would be highly appreciated.

For your info : a regular M6 here in France is sold for 2600 $ approx, the asking price

    for the M4.

    Merci beaucoup.

  8. I agree with Mr. Johnson. The strange and bulky R8 is a joy to handle. Give it a second try.

Personally it's the design of the R8 that still annoys me but that's another story. I have a R7 for

sale. Thoroughly CLA'd by Leica in december and in a great cosmetic condition. Comes with a

guarantee. E-mail me if you're interested.

Well the R7 is a good leica with a solid feel, a highly accurate electronic shutter, a precise meter

and above all takes those magnificent leica lenses. Overall it's a great body for those lenses.

    Cheers
