1.
I would avoid PPA membership and insurance. I was a member with PPA for over 10 years and had a situation and needed help with a claim. I filed a claim with PPA indemnification trust and was denied. They have attorneys that will find reasons not to follow through with the claim and being a trust they can make their own rules. I have authentic insurance now with authentic malpractice protection from a insurance company. I feel real dumb after referring so many photographers to PPA as a great way to protect yourself, its not! Its actually just a false security for your business and in my option a was of money. Get your own insurance and avoid PPA!

  2. I just purchased the 600B. I LOVE IT! Compared to the Pro7 its very light yet powerfull. The

controls are very clean and simple. Ive owned several Hensel Porty systems and recently

switched to Profoto 7 and acute 600b. Im loving the quick recycle time on both profoto

packs. I would recommend an additional battery, 150 full power flashes goes fast. The

batteries swap in seconds. The design is built well, rock solid. My images look very well lit.

For a small local shoot requiring one head the 600b is perfect! Very Pro system!

  3. I use paypal for my photography business. I had one customer cancel their wedding. My contract has a no refund policy however paypal ruled in their favor. The paypal procedure is to wipe out your account balance then ask questions later, it takes 30 days for a decision to be made. Do I sue over $500? Im sure legal fees would run much higher! Never leave funds in your paypal account!!
  4. Hi,

I recently purchased the Metz 54MZ-4 for my Canon 1ds and 10d digital cameras. I have been blown away at how the flash performs, its much better than canon 550ex. When shooting indoors using the bounce flash mode, the metz has a 2nd flash for georgous front fill while bouncing. The A mode is also a great feature that meters very well in most sitiations. The ttl is also inproved over canons 550ex. No more blasting of flash. The overall construction is also an improment very solid. I just sold my 2nd Canon 550ex to fund another Metz 54mz-4. I would highly recomend the Metz Flash for Canon Digital cameras!

  5. I recently purchased the Hensel Porty 1200 unit. The unit is very powerfull and a pleasure to use. The new improved battery tray is so fast! I can replace a battery in seconds. I have owned Norman and Lumedyne both nice units however the Hensel is the next level of performance. I looked into the Profoto 7b and feel that it's a dream pack system. However the dream pack becomes a Nightmare when you figure the price of the pack, charger, and 2 heads. I priced the Profoto 7b at close to $6,000 with 2 heads. I picked up the Hensel Porty pack with 2 batteries, 2 heads, charger and extension cable for $2,800.

    Cheers,

  6. Lumedyne is Crap! Very under rated power. The service manager at Lumedyne is a Jerk. Repairs are very costly and frequent. The pack apears to be a design from the 1950's. I had a full Lumedyne set for 5 years. I recently sold it and upgraded to the Hensel Porty Kit. The Hensel system is very powerfull and very well built. I now have a true 1200 watt location lighting system with many choices in light shapers. I enjoy shooting with the Hensel Ringflash which is great for people and fashion. There is a AC adaptor for your studio work. Another great choice is the Profoto 7b.
