Yes, this really is fun. Takes me back to more than a couple of great days sailing. Thanks.
I think you have to know sailboats, at least a little, to realize the angle of the boat. If there were more 'boat' in the picture it may have been more dramatic. (Yeah, right, just back up a couple of steps and re-shoot...)

Yes, a lower angle for the photographer and if possible leave a little space above his head.
If he rides this route routinely, you could watch how he moves and get really close (but not get in his way), looking up toward him as he comes down the steps.
I like the blur, it gives a sense of riding down the hill.

I have tried similar shots on several occassions, but never seem to get them framed well or in focus.
Ideally you wouldn't have the tree 'growing' out of the head, but that's hard to do. Perhaps some more blur would impart a greater sense of motion.
Do you have others?

Please let me know what you think can improve this photo. I am just a
little too close to the subject (my kids) so I have a hard time
deciding about things like composition and lighting.
I do know that the camera was not quite level when I took the shot,
and it is a scan of a machine print (3x5) so a hand printed image
might be a little better.
Tri-X, cloudy day, exposure unrecorded.
Thanks!
