I just discovered that the software shipped with my Lexar card

reader was the wrong version and would not allow me to write to

the card. As soon as I got the correct driver everything went well.

I really wish manufacturers would exercise better quality control.

Mark- thanks for your input. I am beginning to think that the

problem is with the Lexar card reader (firewire version) rather

than the G4. However, this is only a guess at this point. Canon

doesn't know and Lexar has yet to weigh in. If you think of any

other possibilities, then let me know.

Has anyone had any problems copying the firmware download

for the 1D to their compact flash disc card? I use a mac G4 and I

am unable to copy the file to the card because I get a message

that says the disc is locked. Using the "get info" technique to

unlock the flash card is not working because the disc locked box

is not present. I have reformatted the flash card, erased the card

(all in the camera itself) but nothing has worked. Canon seems

stumped. I was hoping that someone else with a Mac could

help.
