As a gift to my bird loving wife I plan on collecting photos of all
the birds at our feeders and framing them all. Here is my first
installment.

Spring has sprung here in Wisconsin. I was just testing my new lens
and ended up with this little jem. What do you think?

I feel the top and bottom of the photo are out of ballance. The top is dark while the bottom has a lot going on. Also I feel it is leaning a bit to one side. I think recroping to square up the photo would help.

We were driving home after shingling my sister in law's house (not this house!) and I told my wife to stop here! I got out and took it. I only had my camera along to take photos of the house we were shingling so I did not have any accessories with it. Just the 50mm 1.4 lens on the 10D

This is strait from the camera with the exception of the removal of
a small power line in the upper right corner and some white fuel
tanks way off in the background

showing my wife what DOF is all about and I kind of liked this
photo. It makes a nice desktop background at full res. What do you
think?

I really like it a lot! One thing I would do is add a warming filter to it weather physicaly or digitaly.

Marcelo,
By giving this photo a 1-1 you are saying that there is no photo in the world worse that this? I have seen some photos that were far less pleasing to the eye and many that were much less original. But I guess you have not and this is as bad as it gets. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Since there is so much going on in this photo I think the overall darkness takes away form it. I brightened it up a little and crancked up the saturation a ton. Just a suggestion.
-
I wonder what it would have looked like one stop brighter. That is just me studying the Zone system though. I like the photo, but the hands seem as if they are not hers.
-
Maybe try to open the apruture to decrease the shutter speed. I found out last week that stars will start to trail at 30 seconds. This may make the stars in the upper right of the photo dots of light instead of small lines.
-
Maybe try a little makeup like the foundation that women put on their faces. Match the color to the skin. This will take away the veins.

This photo is wonderful. This is exactly the look I am striving for. What makes this photo is that the model looks genuinely happy. This is by far one of my most favorite photos on Photo.net!

I see you worked with the same model as me. She must have changed her hair color though. Just kidding. I like it. What makes the photo is being at the same eyelevel and the sun through the tail.
