1. No, wildlife photography is not boring at all, My friend and mentor was mentioned before Kelvin Aitken, he is what I would say at the top of his feild, his shot of kissing dolphins is still the top dolphin shot I have ever seen. But a shot like it doesn't just fall into place, it's worked to get the best angle, the right light and season, yes the animals being wild do play a part, but the skill of the photographer is what makes the shot. If you are bored by your own wildlife shot's then just maybe you don't have the technical or artistic ability YET to make the shots more interesting, knowledge of subject can hold you back, learn more about the critter you photograph and just maybe you will be ready for the movement it makes to get a more interesting shot. So no wildlife is not boring and it's sad if you think so.
0058Is-12806684.jpg.cd146e0e3c32c40074ccaf1329cb58e2.jpg

  2. I shoot birds mainly and while 800mm sounds great you will find the lens just to big and too long most of the time. At 23 ft close focus you are going to have to use extention tubes all the time just to get the thing to focus close.

Now you may not be shooting small subjects but when you do you will have problems. Not to mention the weight of the stupid thing. I use a 500mm, WHY? because it is the lightest of the big lenses, has good close focus ability, and I get a 1000mm with a 2x which my 1V will still AF in the center point focus spot.

I would if I was you look into a second hand 500f4AFS lens and convertors. You will be much happier in the long run

  3. I know there have been a few questions in the carry equipment side of things but they havn't really answered my question.

I hopefully will be going to NZ and have a 4x5 monorail camera I want to take with me with all the usual gizmo's that go with it. What size backpac would you choose and why do you choose that brand over all others. I have looked at a Pro Trecker bag, thinking i may be able to stick my 35mm gear in it as well, then i have heard some say just buy a backpac and change the inside while others have suggested bags that arfe $400US, what made you choose the bag you have and what do you like/dislike about it.

I will be taking the standards off the camera and the rail can even go outside the bag if need be.

    Thanks all

  4. Really their is a old saying...

"there is nothing new under the sun"

If you look into such things as Jazz they still play the same old

things these days as when they started out many years ago. Nothing

really has changed except the gear they play it on.

I'm from Australia and yes we have the same thing happening here,

1,000,000 pics of Ayres Rock. but theior is still a sense of calmness

around that rock, the light is different everytime, the seasons bring

different looks, eg Spring with lots of rain bring the wildflowers etc

    etc.

And the general public still like looking at the same well know areas.

If I ever get to America i'll be in those well known spots not to copy

someone elses image but to create my own and really that is art. It

maybe the same scene but we all see it different. And that's what makes

one artist different than the next

  5. Just wondering on user input on the camera, and what is the widest lens you can use with the standard bellows.

I will be using it outdoors as well as in but the weight is not a issue. Most landmarks here in OZ you can drive straight up to.

So what is good, bad, and ugly with this camera. It is so dirt cheap here at the moment like about $240US so I'm thinking of getting one.

  6. Come on the EOS 3 is a all weather camera. That's crock, I have used

mine in rain, wind blown sand and all, there is nothing wrong with a

EOS 3. It is a pro camera. My mate alao uses a EOS 3 and a 1n and uses

them on boats in any condition. The 3 always comes out before the 1n
