Do you think these women's role involves actually bayoneting anyone? Combat roles including front line and hand to hand fighting are not open to women in any UK military so its rather crass for women to march around like that when they werent even train to use a bayonet.

Its might be because most posters here are men? Though you will find in general people are more shocked of images of vaginas than penises.

I think there are definately more images of male genitals on TV and films than females ones even though female nudity are more common in the past and are now restricted to specialist channels you will find these days there are more male nudities (and genitals) on mainstream media. We should really be campaigning for more showing of female vulvas to address the balance.

I think much of the problem with male nudes that the general public find offensive about is because male genitals are on the outside and any frontal nudity will expose his genitals. However female nudity become commonly accepted because her genitals are inside and cannot be readily seen, she only expose her pubic area but thats about all. Many women writers often complained about not enough male nudes in hollywood films compared to female nudity but they had conveniently ignored that we never really see a vagina in mainstream movies due to the reason above even though penises can be seen in a rare occasions. Despite some negative reaction from some posters of an image of a penis I think to be fair you also get similar negative reactions if there is an image of a women with her legs parted showing her opened vagina.

Maybe parts of the female virtue is based on beauty and looks while for men it is less concerned. In mens magazine there are beautyful naked and semi naked women, look at womens magazine you see the same kind of images. Women looks at women and identify with it or aspire to become it, men are more individualistic and often tries to disaocciate with it. YOu can ahve any pictures of nake women and people will enjoy looking at it with interest regardless it is from men or women.

Its not that original but it does make people look twice if you can imagine it being in a gallery, obviousely to those who never seen one will be wondering what it is. Knicki, do you know what it is? I thought it look like a Satsuma bowl.

Good posture, but I am curious why you need to airbrush her genitals? It doesnt really come across as surrealist type of picture, more of an art pose so ant modification is unnecessary.

Unlike some posters here who appears to rate this purely for sentimental reasons I have to say from a purely a photography point of view its fairly average. A woman giving birth happens all the time around the world, although it may be special it is purely that a baby is born. I suppose an image of a baby being delivered is always an iconic one and not entirely constraint by how well the photos is taken.

About the image, I like the moment the baby's head pops out between the mother's leg and a male mid wife delivering the child which is perhaps increasingly less common in western society these day, it does not appear to be a complicated birth. I didnt like the nurse's hand getting in the way pressing between the mother and the baby, to me that connection of the birthing scene was most important and it was spoilt by the hand, I guess this maight be down to censorship on the part of the photographer?

I have seen similar image of a poster at a womens hospital a few years ago though it was rather provacative even disturbing to some because the infant boy embraced his naked pregnant mother while positioned right up against between her legs while she was lying down and his head resting on her lower abdomen with one arm around her thigh, to me it was perhaps innocent but I cannot help realising that contact between the boy and his mother's genitals took place. Your example here I do not find provacative at all but shows a bonding between mother and child also to the unborn.

It wasnt a fantasy, there was indeed news reports about the Stone Henge arrests during Summer Solstice which occured nearly every year particularly during the 80s and early 90s, I remember news footage of naked people being arrested by police.....:) I was particularly interested in it because I enjoy history and our teacher talks about the monument a lot and had tried to organise tours for us but because of the troubles every year it never happened, I think he was an original 60s hippy and the Stone Henge left an impression on him. It was a more prudish time back then. Were you protesting about the proposed motorway being built near the site?

So it was you G. and your buddies that got arrested in 1984.....:) I remember seeing something on the news that year about some arrests, I was still at school then and our History teacher often arrange trips for pupils to Stone Henge about the time of the Solstice, were you one of the women that went starkers when the TV cameras and police arrived?

Didnt they built or suppose to have a replica so people might not damage the real thing which now fenced off. It was opened again recently for one off ceremony by druids. I think its cool going to Stone Henge and dont mind being arrested, but to be thrown in jail for a week is a bit harsh, nowadays it takes a serious assault to be send down.

I doubt she could have achieved the landing strip with such crude intrument, probably not sharp enough to trim the hairs.

Its both erotic and art. Its reminded me of a statue and it subtle shades and highlight shows off the muscle features and embodies feminine sensuality and empowerment. Its hardly exploitative nor sexually suggestive but shows of the perfect healthy female form in a striking manner without shame I think even some anti porn feminists might find this image perfectly acceptable.
