I tried that: It left the tree looking small and unimpressive.

I think I captured a good image here. Please let me know whether or
not you agree. Thanks!

Yeah... I didn't see that in the viewfinder but I did see it when I got it on to the computer. I wish she had her hear turned just a little bit... Oh Well... Otherwise I'm pretty proud of it.

Thank you for your opinions.

Got lucky with this boat sailing by at the right time! What do you think?

Reminds me of a very famous photograph from Bikini Atoll!

...Cute!
-
Well, I did do that! Do you like this one any better?

I was attempting to highlight the height of the tree by allowing to top to exceed the DOF. However, in retrospect, I suspect you are right and a sharp focus all the way to the top of the tree would have been an improvement.
Thanks for your input!

...more people are killed each year by falling coconuts than by sharks!

Your photo is good enough to stand on its own, but the title you gave it is spectacular! I love it. Inspired!

We spent a good part of a very memorable day riding on the rattle-trap
bus.

I took several shots of this school of fish as they swam quickly past.
The light was low and the exposure was long. To compensate, I panned
them. I had mixed success. This one was among the best. I hope you
agree. Please let me know either way. Thanks, Ira

Great shot! I really like how the colors of the rings of light memic the colors of the sunset backdrop. Well done!

This tree I saw in San Fransisco is spectacular!

Additionally, I was struck by the irony that this photo and its accompanying uninformed opinion were posted for critique in the "News/Journalism" category! Maybe I shouldn't be surprised: it seems that much of the media is doing the same on this topic.

I took the liberty. I hope you don't mind. I think this better showcases the striking image you captured.

Great shot! It really takes me back. As a kid, I fished in this very spot many times. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

That's great! She'll never live this photo down.

You found an interesting subject in an interesting setting that provides a non-distracting backdrop: Very good. Where you need some work is in your composition and focus. Your subject is too centered and the focus is not sharp. Good start however!

Took this shot at the mouth of a secluded valley on the eastern end
of the Island of Molokai.

Thanks everybody! I am proud of this one. When I look through my pictures, I always see something that I wish I had done differently or something that I wish had been different. Not this one. It stuns me when I look at it and think, "I'd change nothing."
One more note. This was completely candid. I do not know this couple. I don't believe they ever even realized that I had set in the grass behind them to take this shot. She sure did a good job selecting an umbrella for me though! ;-)
