I have installed color plus color management on my computer. I then
installed Photo Shope Elements 3.0. When I open photo shop, a
message pops-up saying the color plus color profile is
defective...it gives me a choice to use profile anyway (which it
DOES NOT allow!) or to ignore profile...should I be concerned? What
should I do (or ignore). Thank you for any response!

I recently purchased a Sony DSC-P150 camera. My pictures, even after
processing look much brighter on my monitor than the actual print.
This is especially true for night pictures, even with close range
flash. The back ground always shows more detail, and the skin looks
brighter than the actual print. I am using a Hewlett-Packard 970CSE
and premium or premium plus HP paper. Is this a common occurence? I
have noticed this with slides as well. The slide always had a bit
more "snap" than the actual print.
Tweaking ICC profiles
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing

I hope my experience can help you. I recently bought an Epson R800 printer and photoshop elements 3.0. I became too fancy with twicking ICC profiles and had a terrible time like you did!
Here is the simple way to match your prints to what you see on the monitor...I use a Monaco XR PRO version (I have heard the simpler version is not that good).
First calibrate your monitor. I named this calibrated profile Monaco Customized Profile (MCP).
Then go to photoshop elements and choose NO COLOR MANAGEMENT...also under photoshop elements, choose MCP as your color profile.
In the printer program, choose PRINTER SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT...do NOT choose color mangement off.
IF you are susing Epson ink and papers, your photos WILL come off the same as your monitor.
Forget about ICC profiles...they are only needed if you are using off-brand papers/inks.
I hope this helps.
