I'm a lawyer (and taught copyright and trademark law for years). The proposal is absurd.
-
No, it's not possible. The poster is either a joker or a fool (for paying lawyers to do what
they cannot do). Waste time better by worrying about something else.

Is the optical formulation of the ROM version (Leica #11333) the same as the previous
version (Leica #11259) ?

I received the following terse response from Leica/Solms: "Sorry, but it is not possible".
Still waiting to hear further from Sherry. DAG's response was that I would likely need to
have filters custom made for the rotating element, since Leica likely did not make any
other than those which are installed at manufacture.
Oh well... I'm probably gonna buy the lens anyway.
-
I e-mailed Sherry and DAG. Sherry wrote back and said she had never done this before,
but would look into it and get back to me. I will call the suggested contacts.
I shoot mostly chrome film. Any suggestions for an ideal array of four filters? I'd like an
81C, 81EF, and 82A. I'd probably keep the yellow/orange.
-
I'm thinking about buying this lens used. Can/will Leica USA (or some well-regarded repair
person) change out the four filters which are built into this lens? Thanks.

Take a tram over to the concert hall, called the Concertgebouw. You might be able to tour the hall during the day when a concert is not being performed. The interior is exquisitely beautiful, and the acoustics are perfect. Mahler conducted in this hall, among others. I have a great shot of the interior, featuring the organ pipes. Also, the big church in Haarlem (where there is an organ festival every two years) is beautiful and you can take photos in there.

Don't forget Don Chatterton for either new or used Leica gear. Don is 100% honest and his prices are very competitive.

I was staying at the Millenium Hilton on 9/11. I will never post or distribute the photos I took that day. I'm simply thankful that my brother (who was working in WTC-2 at the time) got out alive.

I'll take my M3 over a girl any day... my 2002 BMW M3, that is... LOL.

Life is short. Buy the camera. Your next-of-kin can worry about the
mortgage.

Attention Steve and John: the word is "flare"... not "flair". Although
I'd agree that the Leica M system does have "flair" (a stylish sense).
-
I hate to be pedantic.... but the word is "flare"....not "flair".

I'm a lawyer... criminal defense and civil rights cases. That is, I
defend murderers and sue cops. And yes, I sleep very well at night.

Actually, for some years now David Hockney has been advancing a theory
(his own) that the old masters used some sort of optical device (a
camera obscura) to guide their painting, rather than painting freehand.
Hockney just conducted a forum about this topic in New York. See
this or this<
/a>, for example. I saw Hockney's theory presented in the Hammer museum
in L.A. and it is fascinating.

Note that "Alfie" has four of the five letters that spell "Leica"...
[chills down back]...

Please don't invite that idiot (triblett) here. You think this forum
has problems now, with Alfie? You haven't seen anything....
-
"...because of my somewhat problematic 20/200 eyesight..."

Well, as I suspected... Alfie is working at a severe disadvantage. 20/
200 is considered legally blind in most states.

25 years of shooting has reaffirmed my dislike of the 50mm focal
length. For me, the ideal range is 24/35/75/90. I'd get the 90/2.8 now,
while the gettin is good. You can always find a cheap 50 later on.

Well... I serve as a mentor right now to two young college men, one of
whom lives in my house. They're doing extremely well, and although I
won't attribute that solely (or even largely) to my mentoring, I think
my gentle but persistent reasonableness has played a significant
factor.
Regardless, no one here is mentoring Alfie. That relationship
can't be effected online. He's simply a human being reaching out for
some online companionship. And I'm surprised no one has picked up on
the subtleties in Alfie's posts: e.g., he's stated on more than one
occasion that his eyesight is bad and/or getting worse. Perhaps he has
a sight problem and has trouble focussing. Shall we discourage him from
photography completely?!? Is sending him to a Pentax K1000 the solution
when the Leica has a much brighter viewfinder? SO WHAT is he likes
Leicas? Isn't he more likely to learn with equipment he enjoys using?<
p>Honestly, it's a good thing I don't drink, because I wouldn't want to
imbibe with some of you; if you're this nice when you're sober, Lord
knows what you're like when you're drunk.

When I began my career as a trial lawyer, I was the typical young
arrogant a**hole; I bullied, fought, and clawed my way through each
motion, deposition, and trial, oblivious to the feelings of witnesses,
opposing parties, and opposing lawyers. Over time, of course, I learned
to be much more effective... I simply became nicer, A LOT nicer, and I
found I got my way much more often with juries, judges, and opposing
counsel (and made a WHOLE lot of money, by the way). There is a crying
need for civility and graciousness in society generally, not just in
the rarefied arena of the law.
I may or may not agree with Eve's
opinions on Alfie, but I guarantee I could express any negative opinion
in a kind and considerate way. To me, the mark of a professional is
someone who can tell you to go to hell in a way that'll make you look
forward to taking the trip. I'm not impressed with "blunt talkers";
that's just a euphemism for someone who's tactless and cruel. I'm not
knocking Eve's bona fides; I just don't like the tenor of her
delivery.
You know, Rodney King really was right: why can't we all
just get along?
-
Dear Eve: Why don't you tell us "All About" yourself, so that all of us
here at the Leica forum can understand why you're so evil and petty?
And by the way, don't try anything with ME; my friends call me
"Addison"...
