  1. Yeah the biggest problem with a usable negative scanner especially if you will need it for multiformats such as 35,120,4x5 transparency. The scanner will cost much more than the 10d or the d300. So the idea that scanning film is saving money over buying the new digital body is not accurate. Both solutions have an innitial cost but film still loses out because of processing and purchasing the film. Shooting digital with a laptop handy is the best solution. I am dumping my f3 for a digital body. I was originally going to purchase the d1s then I saw that it costs more than the ducati motorcycle I wanted (used) so it got me thinking about how obsurd it is(for me) . I dont need the speed though I dont like the gap between 6 megapixel and 11,14 megapixels in addition to the full frame. The price of the 1vhs vs the 1ds is still large. Its something I will have to live with. I will go 10d since the lag ,dim finder, smaller buffer,no wheel, custom functions etc are too much to ignore as the 600$ difference can be saved in lense selection costs. Thinking of resale, What do you think maybe more salable? a 10 or a d300? Assuming that the d300 doesnt melt (hahha i doubt it) or crumble befor I want to change it, I think that the 600$ extra spent will not be remmmemberd after a month of use. And if the 10d is more durable then no matter what anyone says it is nice to have. Have you ever bumped your camera against a pole or wall while jokying into position for a shot? or dropped your camerabag by accident? THe thoughts that go through your head when this happens usually makes you run to the sided of durability. That said, plastic actually has the advantage of bouncing back , metal dents . Butplastic can shatter so I dont know whats worse. I will have to live with paying a zillion bucks for a mega wide angle lense to compensate for the 24mm lense I shoot with most on my f3. For the rest, I think that I luck out for 70-200L becomes the lense I could not once afford for free thanks to the non removable 1.6 teleconversion!

No matter what people say. The "digital Rebel" is still a Rebel . How would you feel if someone took your 1v and said you have to live with shooting this Rebel ? And the difference is that your film is also cut in half ? Im sure most would find that a bit odd.

  2. I was in that boat too looking for a medium format system. I ended up with hassleblad as I like the other stuff in there line also in the case of me wanting to change bodies and accessories. I like the batteryless opporation. I dont care so much about the weather conditions however being able to pull out the hasselblad at any point over the years and simply load some film and shoot with it are pretty amazingooptions that I cant say about any camera unless it is manual .

I felt more hands on with the blad than the rollei but Im sure if I used the rollei more I may have gotton comfortable with it too.
