1. I think in the process of cleaning my my sensor i have scratched it.

Anyone know how much it costs to get the filter in front of the

censor replaced on a 10d or do i have to replace the whole sensor.

I'm guessing my stupiding isn't covered by the mack warrente either.

    thanks for the help!

  2. So I've finally decided to buy a couple of monolights for shooting

    traditional posed shots at weddings.

Any advice on what umbrellas to buy? size 32/48/60? white/silver or

    shoot through?

    Thanks for the help.

  3. Thanks bob. I'm mainly looking for something for formals.

I try to stay true to my photojournalist background the rest of the time. I just wish the 400's would get me through the formals.

  4. So I've finally decided that I need some studio lights for helping

me out in dark churches. I shoot only a few weddings a year for

friends and family so budget is a concern.

    Thus..My Question.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Alien Bee 400s. Good buy or bad

buy. They are about the top of what I want to spend. I could get a

pair of Adorama's Flashpoint 800s for about the same price. I feel

    better about the Alien's though.

Thanks for the help. I always feel better with a little feed back

    from the foru,.

  5. I have debating on what studio lights to get for sometime. I just saw

an add for Adoramas Flashpoint monolights, I was considering Alien Bees.

Does anyone have any thoughts or words of wisdom?

6. It has finally hit me that I need some monolights for churches that

aren't so bright. I've never shot with them, so I'm curious to how

many watt seconds I need in each one. I was thinking of getting pair

    with radio slaves and transmitter.
Alien bees vs white ligthening or should stray away from them.
Thanks for the help!
7. This week.....

    - Had a brand new flash crap out on me (2 weeks old)

    - My batteries stopped started to die, they don't hold a charge like

    they used too.

    - Lost my battery charger at a photo shoot.

    - Broke my hood off of my canon 24-70 usm L

    I think it's time for a vacation.

  8. I once shot a wedding where the bride gave us horrible directions so we were cutting it close on time, I had forgotten to put film in my camera! Luckily it didn't go to far and we caught the mistake early. We were able to reshoot with no problem.

In my college days when I worked for a newspaper, I forgot to put a compact flash card in our d1 a couple of times.

Moral of the story. Set your camera so you cant take a pic unless you have film or a compact flash card in the camera.

  9. I have a second flash I'm going to set up as a slave. What kind of

stand I get? The flash has a tripod adapter will that fit on to a

    standard flash stand?

Thanks for the help. Much Appreciated-- Bryan

  10. I've read here on the forums about people with dead pixels on their

10D bodies. I'm sure it's just a fact of life. I noticed this weekend

that on my Raw images from my 10D that I have two green pixels in the

    same place on several images.

Sounds to me like they are dead pixels. But, it only happened on a few

of the raw pics and not jpegs. I was shooting at ISO 800 when it

happened. Things look fine at 400.

    Thoughts?

  11. I feel the same way. I used to work for a newspaper in college. My first year and half everything I shot was tmax, and did all my own developing and printing. Those are my favorite photos. The last year and a half I switch primiarly to digital with a few color slides and bw. Still my favorite photos were from the slides and bw.

Maybe there's something to it, maybe there's not. I used to take more of my time framing a shot with film, because I only had 36 to a roll. With digital since it's virtually free I shoot more, but I dont know if it is with better quality.

  12. I was kind of sckeptical at first on the difference of the speeds of cards. My first one was a 4x and my new one is a 60x. I notice a huge speed gain. For weddings, the faster the better. It's true you get what you pay for.
