So far, only Phillipe has touched on an important aspect of the question - much of Yosemite is blocked on various sides, so it often takes a while after sunset before direct moonlight is available, and the moon sets sooner before sunrise.
If I understood you correctly, you're probably going to have to find a rather flat area rather high up. I can't recommend a particular place, however.

I have to second the fish tacos at the Mobile restaurant. Good egg sandwich in the morn, too...

A rectilinear 14mm lens gives you about 22-23mm. That'll avoid fish eye and
barrel distortion, but not perspective distortion inherent in short focal lengths.
I personally wouldn't use it for casual shoots, but my definition of casual
shoots may not be the same as yours.

In order, I'd
1) buy the 10D now and pay $200 more
2) wait for the 10D
3) buy the D60 used
Between (1) and (2), is it worth $200 for 2-3 months of use for you?

I ordered the Lexar Firewire CF reader, as it is supposed to be fully compatible with OSX 10.2 w/o additional drivers. It's about $40 at B&H. Haven't received it yet, but have talked to others that say it works just fine.

There were whales w/ calves at Point Reyes today. Since they're coming from
Mexico, they've got to pass by Pigeon Point...can't say how often or how close,
though.
Photographs or paintings on your walls?

On my walls, some might expect a few nature photos, maybe some art, or dents from my forehead, but my walls are still bare.
I may eventually put up some b/w photos (nature and other) from others, but probably not my own stuff. I don't know art from high-priced junk.
