  1. Nice image you've got there. I prefer the B&W because of the contrast, and also because the buildings in the coloured one draw too much attention. Did you print the colour neg on B/W paper with a contrast filter?
  2. Out of three rolls of film taken in Venice (that's about a hundred

images in total), I felt this one was the strongest image of them

all. I've posted 3 other Venice photographs here, and I thought it

somewhat strange that those other ones got looked at more and

received more comments than this one. So what do you think? Do you

find this image more, or less successful the the other three? The

folder can be found at http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?

I think this photo is great as is! IMO fill-in flash could ruin the mood, and the head looks fine as a silhouette. It could be framed a little lower though (showing less sky and more clothing, and from a lower angle).

So the fingers are washed out, and there's nothing I can do about it.

I still quite like this image anyway, but I can't decide whether I

should keep the fingers white, or burn in as a flat grey. Which would

    you prefer, white or grey?

Also, what do you like or not like about this photograph? All

    comments appreciated.

  3. It appears that flower photography seems to be quite popular around

here (and everywhere else too, probably because of the natural beauty

of flowers, and the generally non-controversial nature of the subject

matter). I am presenting yet another flower photograph here - what I

want to know is: do you see something interesting in this picture, or

is it just another pretty flower pic? Do you think I could learn

anything by continuing to make flower photographs? Or should I pursue

something else? Do you feel that "it's all been done before"?

[This picture was taken where it was found, by the window, with

sunlight coming in through the window, camera handheld. No special

gimmicks or techniques, apart from turning the flower pot around to

make the shadows fall in the right place, and some Photoshopping to

fill in bright spots in the background.]
