Hi,
I just bought the canon 70-200mm IS and I am not sure if it is
defective or not. The zoom ring when turned does not feel totally
smooth. It sort of rachets. A very very slight rubbery type
ratcheting. Can anyone who has this lens let me know if this is
normal?
Any help woudl be appreicated.
Thanks,
Art

Oh and it does not change lenghts during focusing. It is a constant 4 3/4" long.

I just measured from body to the end of the lens. It is just a hair under 4 3/4". Definately under 5".

If you need the extra speed of the Sigma 24mm F1.8 then go with the Sigma.
www.deltainternational.com has a good price on it: ($242)

If you dont need the extra speed the Canon 24mm F2.8 is a great lens.
Its selling for $280 at B&H:

I just bought a 50mm F1.4 and it also does not autofocus. I am
returning it asap.
