Cheap 1 Button LANC?? in Video Posted November 26, 2002 Hello there. Normally just post on photo only, but looking for some help here. I shoot limited vidiography with small bullet cameras on race motorcycles. I am using a one button LANC remote to start/stop my Canon digital camcorder. It's got a status LED light and a single button, and works great. Problem is, it's just a button and an LED or so it seems, and the cheapest I've found it for is $70 at www.viosport.com (link http://shop.viosport.com/store/customer/product.php? productid=16131&cat=&page=1 ) The one I have works great, but I'm helping a club make a purchase of several units, and if we could shave that $70 down, it would really keep the cost down for everyone. Can somebody tell me of other places on the net I can get one of these for less than $70, or, someplace that tells how LANC really works. Is this just a button, an LED and a simple circuit, or is there actually a digital processing chip inside that button unit? Thanks in advance from those of you who know video technology! -Kevin
