  1. Hi all,

    <p>

    I recently bought an used Yashica Mat 124G in perfect condition (my

    Christmas gift). I'm trying to step into MF with this inexpensive

    equipment.

    <p>

    I want to know if some of the Yashica Mat experts out there can

    elaborate on the following issue:

    I read in <a href="http://www.lumieresenboite.com/collection2.php?

    l=2&c=Yashica_Mat_124_G" target="_blanck">this site</a> that the use

    of a telephoto lens converter causes strong vignetting. And by the

    sample picture they have posted, it's really bad.

    <p>

    Many thanks in advance to all who respond. I'll appreciate it, since

    I'm interested in a little longer focal length.

    <p>

    Regards!

  2. Chris,

    I recommend you buy that camera at Pitman (US1 & 132 St) or at Wolf Camera (Kendall & 107 Ave / Dadeland Mall).

    Also, try www.adorama.com and www.bhphoto.com for prices on S&H to your country, maybe you'll find a better deal there.

    Good luck!

  3. I bought a N65 that, of course, came with the 28-80mm D lens. Since I had read in photo.net about the best way of building a SLR system, I inmediately wanted to buy the 50mm 1.8D and try it. I said to my self, "It's cheap, I don't see the harm...", and so I bought it.

    I ordered it from Adorama, but unfortunately, I didn't order it soon enough for my trip to World Disney, so I had to take only my zoom lens with me.

    I'm telling you the story so you can understand that I'm talking from experience. I shot about 5 rolls of 36 exposures each. Well, I can tell you those are the worst photos I have. Once I received the 50mm and tried it, I realized the difference in quality, sharpness, and brightness. It was like night and day.

    I'm so happy with my prime 50mm that I already sold the zoom lens, and I don't plan on buying zooms for now. My next lens is going to be a prime portrait lens. I just have to be less lazy, and move my feet to zoom. Try it, and you'll see the difference immediately.

  4. Hi all!

    As I'm considering buying new lens(es), I have a question for the

    pros and more experienced photographers out there.

    I enjoy taking portraits, and shooting people's faces. But on the

    other hand I would also like to do some macro work, I find it

    fascinating. So I've decided to buy a portrait lens and a macro lens.

    My candidates are the "Nikon 85mm f/1.8D AF" and the "Nikon 60mm

    f/2.8D AF Micro".

    Now, (and here is where I need you expertise), if I buy the "Nikon

    105mm f/2.8D AF Micro AF" wouldn't I be getting a two-purpose lens,

    in fact, for the two styles I'm after?

    The money shouldn't be a problem. The 85mm + 60mm micro is only about

    $100 more than the 105mm micro at Adorama (buying gray-market).

    I hope you guys can guide me to the best combination.

    Many thanks in advance.
