For this particular shot, my guess is that the camera exposed for the highlights as they take up most of the frame along with the white dress. This will lead to underexposure of your main subject in this instance. There are several things you can try. The most effective method is to purchase an incident meter and meter from the subject. You could "zoom" in on the bride's face, this would give you an accurate reflective meter reading, and set your exposure accrodingly. You could also guess. Look at the overall scene, make note that the bride is in the shadows, and increase exposure accordingly. Good Luck!

I like this image. You have a full range of tones from pure black to white (the waves.) The haze in the distance actually adds to the image for me. The bird adds interest as well. I think an 11X14 or bigger print would bring out additional detail that would make this a stunning black and white landscape.

Let me know what you think. I don't like that I cut off the paws of
the left cheetah. What comments do you have. Thanks.

This picture was taken with a flash bounced into an umbrella on the
camera's left. A gold reflector was placed to the camera's right.
Is there too much contrast between the left and right side?

This image was taken at the Dallas Zoo. The Cheetah's color seems
flat to me. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a new Nokkor 85mm 1.8D lens, and I could not wait to test
it out. I am curious as to what you think about the technical
aspects of this picture. In particular, depth of field and
lighting. I know the subject is not that interesting... Thanks.
can you see me now?
