I use an EOS-dedicated Sigma EF-500 Super with my EOS 300 (UK Rebel 2000 equivalent) and am very happy with it. This flash can provide E-TTL with the Rebel 2000 (and TTL and manual). The flash also allows flash exposure at any shutter speed via FP mode. Subject exposures on slide film are more-or-less spot-on (with on-camera exposure providing background exposure control). One thing I found though is fill-flash in daylight tends to overexpose by 1 or 2 stops even with exposure compensation set.
Can I use other flashes besides EX series for Rebel 2000?
