To answer the first question: I mean the end of the sync cord. To answer to second: I'm not sure what you mean by a polarity problem. The cord is pc female on one end for the camera and a larger male plug on the other end for the monolight. The thing is that it works fine with my Nikon, and another sync cord works fine with my Mamiya -- just not this particular sync cord with this particular camera.

I'm having a strange problem with one of my sync cords when used my
Mamiya 7. It's a sync cord that plugs in to a monolight, and it works
fine when used with my Nikon. However, when I use it with my Mamiya,
it often doesn't fire the monolight, and I have to press it in very
hard in order to make sure it fires, which is frustrating, especially
when shooting vertically. This would lead me to believe that there is
something wrong with the sync hookup on the Mamiya, except for the
fact that when I use it with my battery-powered flash on a flash
bracket with a standard pc sync cord, it works fine with no problems.
Any ideas on how to correct this problem? In addition, is there a way
to make a double exposure with the Mamiya in the event that the
strobe does not fire I do not have to waste a frame of film?
Thanks,
Steve

I probably will save up enough cash to buy a digital SLR since I would like one anyway and it will function more or less as a digital version of a Polaroid back... of course, not the same format, but it will give me a good idea of my exposure and it will be quicker than a Polaroid back.

It's for studio/on-location work with strobes.

The main purpose would be for exposure checks. The medium format bodies I have now are a Mamiya 7, which I use the most, and a Yashica Mat 124G TLR, which I rarely use and just carry as a backup. I am looking for the best low-cost option of doing exposure checks. My preference would be to buy a digital 35mm body, since I would like to purchase one anyway, but I don't have the $ to buy a decent one right now. Any suggestions?

Does anyone make a Polaroid back for the Mamiya 7?

There are ways you can block and/or report SPAM. Take a look at www.spamcop.net.

A couple of questions:
1) Since Kodak has discontinued their Pan Masking Film, what are
folks using for masking film?
2) Since Wess Plastics discontinued their 6x7 masking holders, are
there any others that still make these?
(Anyone see a pattern here?)

I've heard that aside from the Macro lenses, the lenses aren't of very high quality. Anyone else heard the same?

Well, it's brand new, but maybe it just doesn't like the Mamiya... *shrug*
Is the "PC Tip Conditioner" what you are referring to? (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bh4.sph/FrameWork.class?FNC=ProductActivator__Aproductlist_html___40353___PATCPC___REG___CatID=0___SID=F40229D34C0)
