  1. Canon and Nikon are both good, go to the shop see how the cameras feel in your hands. I played in the Elan7 and i liked it a lot, I played with the EOS3 and I hated the interface, I played with the nikon N/F80 and I liked it a lot, more or less like the elan although the nikon feel more solid and the elan more 'electronic', and I played with the F100 and I loved it. At the end I bought the F80 because I couldn't aford the F100 and I didn't want to be in the canon world in case in get any richer and can buy the next model which would be the EOS 3 which I am sure is greart for some people but I don't like. I also liked the LCD of the nikons more (it was bigger).

Don't let people convince you Canon is the option because they are 'ahead in digital' that is only tru is you can spend $7k in a Canon 1Ds, if it is not the case, there are really more or less on the same level, nikon released the D1 and was ahead of canon, then de d1x d1h and was ahead of canon, then canon released the 1d which was better than the nikon d1h, then the 1ds which was better (in terms of pixels) thatn the D1x, no nikon released the D2h which is better thatn the canon 1D, it is all a race, sometime one leads, sometime the other leads in certain aspects.

So, they are both good and in general switching doesn't make sense unless you have very very little investment in lenses , flashes etc. Some people seem to switch brands every time someone is temporarelty leading the race...some people in these forums have to much time and money for this.

  2. Better and cheaper than the 1D http://www.dpreview.com/articles/nikond2h/page4.asp

People keep talking about the 1Ds like it was $1000 and everybody could buy it, and very very few people can buy a 1D and if you are into sports etc a D2h is a 1.5 magnification, instant start-up times , the shortest shutter lag, wi-fi and 40 burst more are more useful than 6mp , or the 1Ds 11Mp , and that is why this camera exists, for a certain part of the market, the D2x will be targeted to another part of the market

  3. the f50 is the n50 in the US, so if it says F50 it wasn't bought in the US or was bought grey in the US, nothing wrong with not having the American designation anyway. It was botton of the line when it was sold and the body only sells second hand for a bit more than £100 or £120 in the UK. No idea about the Sigma lens. I have the F50 it is ok although it doesn't show aperture/shutter speed on the lcd on the top screen which for me is annoying but it may be ok for many, also it doesn't have wheels to change aperture and shutter speed, but it does all the basic stuff and the metering system is very good.

You can find all info you want about all Nikon cameras here : http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/htmls/slrmain9197.htm

you can also spend 20 second in Google to find it...
