I'm just starting with photography & do appreciate the comments. The photos taken that day were with the F100 and Nikkor 105 macro. Two primary issues: I was not using a tripod and I was using the camera on full auto (manual focus though). Subsequent tinkerings are being done with aperature priority so that I can have more control over depth of field.

Escher was a stray & thus I do not know his lineage, however he looks like a Russian Blue and has some of the vocal character of a Siamese.

An asymmetric tree, adaptive to its environment, half hidden by the soil encasing its roots. The air around, filled with life-giving moisture, obscures a hint of man's influence on our earth. Shadow, visably rooted in the dark, rich loam which anchors the frame. A thin precipice extends to separate the dark and light.
So too with our souls.
Seek the heartbeat/rhythm of the tree to understand its perspective; what then is the perspective of a stone?
