Just a thought for you-- kite aerial photography. Everything fits into a backpack, and it's a good way of getting aerial shots at 1000 ft. or less. I only shoot 35mm, using a camera with a shutter going off automtically every 5 min. The kite, line, reel, rig, and camera cost me a total of $320 and fits easily into a backpack. There's a guy from berkely with an awesome website- http://www.arch.ced.berkeley.edu/kap/kaptoc.html
It's simpler if you get a camera with timer built in, but I got off the ground in a week.

The only way that I can think of is to "fix" it, then make it glow by adding luciferin and ATP to the media. (the glowing effect requires three chemicals, luciferin, luciferase, and ATP [adenosine triphosphate].) Mount it on a slide, and take the photo. Talk to a biology professor at your local university. You'll probably end up with a 2-3 minute exposure at f/2.8 (you often lose a few f-stops in photomicrography).

One of the things that you should be considering is how your equipment will fare in the cold. I know that mine doesn't work too long at very cold temperatures, so you may want to make a little case for your camera that you could slide some "hothands" chemical warmers into to keep it going. I would not recommend a fast lens either, as it will be cumbersome for you and the others on the bus. (it takes me quite a while of setup and waiting to shoot with the 800 f/5.6, not to mention the heaviness of it. My favorite is the 20mm. get one.
