I would like to know more about the technical specs of this picture. What shutter speed, focal length, shutter speed, etc. Very well composed action shot. Ian, your overall folder is amazing.

The lighting in this photo is nice, but could be better. I didn't like the deep shadows on the face. I would try moving the subject back from the window a step and have the subject face more toward the window. It appears the white dress and the edges of the hat are a bit too bright. I also found the dark strip of curtain to the right to be distracting. A tighter composition of the subject would have been better. I would also include more of the dark tones of the background in this picture so there would be a contrast of light and dark. This would have enhanced the picture and make it a great portrait.

The atmosphere of the picture is chilling and eerie. The soft diffused look, the purple tone, and the points of lights creates this effect well. Interesting how the scene disappears (merges) into the fog on the right side, beckoning the eye to explore the left side of the picture. The photographer's intent was to create a surreal dreamy atmosphere and it works.

Interesting composition and perspective. The exposure is right on, providing good detail in the shadow areas and light areas are not overexposed. B&W is the right choice for this picture, color would not effectively recreate the atmosphere as well.

Good lighting, good contrast of dark background and light foreground.
